Brake squeal

I'm in the process of purchasing a EVO from the site. But when we took the car out for a test drive the back brakes squealed the entire time. Does this happen all the time with the EVO? or once in awhile? The brakes were also changed, so I'm really lost. Any ideas?

It is not completely the norm.
Were stock pads used when they were replaced? When they were replaced, were the anti-squeal shims put back in? Were the rotors replaced or turned?

Any of these things, or lack there of, can cause incessant brake squeal.

I don't mind once in a while, but everytime I stop the car is definately not normal. You spend money on a car expecting the brakes not to be squealing.

After awhile it gets annoying, and embarrasing.

But from what I know, he replaced the pads with aftermarket ones.

Hey thought i would join the post. Its my car in question.I would hate to see this guy not buy my car or a car in general because of brake noise. I replaced my pads in the front and rear with Project NU pads. The front do not squeal at all it just seems to be the right rear its not like every brake is squealing. I dropped off the car on friday to have them double check the install of the brakes. I would have done it anyway whether this guy was trying to buy my car or not.

.
Were stock pads used when they were replaced?

Stock pads were used yes,

When they were replaced, were the anti-squeal shims put back in?
Not sure about this one since i didnt install them. However I was watching and he just popped the old ones out and slid the new ones in.

Were the rotors replaced or turned?

Rotors were not replaced or turned

Any ideas I am sure its a quick fix

^^^ Nah from what ive heard from many people its just a common problem, some people have it worse than others, when using performance pads there bound to squeal, if theres a fix I would love to know.

It could just be that the new pads need to be bedded in properly. Try getting some temp into them to see if it goes away.

Unfortunately it is not always an easy fix. On my previous car I had a nasty squeal problem and ended up having to replace the rotors, pads and anti-squal shims to get it silenced. Granted this was on the front and not the rear. Usually the rears are not the problem.

Good luck,
