What would be causing the overboost service engine light to come on my bone stock evo? ALready 3rd time in 2 days ( cleared it twice). Was only happening in third gear at around 5500-6500 rpms, but tonight it happened in 3rd and then in 4th at like 4000 rpms. Starting to make me really angry. Feels like the car ran into a wall for a second.

 

dude..got the same code...does your turbo sound really loud? ..i am AMOST POSITIVE its your intercooler piping(well thats what it was for me..2 times)..check it completly!

 

Yea I checked the top thats all cool, didnt feel like taking the splash shields off, what do you think the bottom pipes are just loose?

 

ya..just checking the tops wont do it..i blew the bottom hoses off, you MIGHT be able to just SEE if you look through the grille in front..it would be the hose on eaither sidde of the i/c. I blew the intake side off(not really totally FALL off..just clamp got loose so when i tired to get under boost, it would let air out) and then i fixed mit, and the turbo side ended up comin off..so holds boost fine now

 

Aight thanks, I got a local shop checking it now, because im to lazy and dont have time to take all the splash shields off.

 

also check your waste gate rod. and your vacuum tubing from the trubo, waste gate and solenoid. they can also contribute to the over boosting
