Got to finally see the Evo in person....

I had a chance to visit the Philly auto show this past weekend. and yes, I got to see our new EVO. Let me tell u all that pictures don't give the car any kind of credit. This car is simply sexy. Great lines from every angle, huge sticky-looking rubber, meatloaf sized calipers that shine bright red, an intercooler that's bigger than any other car ever produced for america (I hope im not mistaking), and a wing that screams "tuner-speed-jap-mobile" all the way. I like it
The wheels/ tires fit the width of the body perfectly and look just right. I noticed that this car has been on some track somewere because the tires were definetely put through some heat cycles (maybe a magazine or 2) . I feel that many ponies will be available with an aftermarket exhaust- I think maybe in the 20-25 or more range. This exhaust is so tiny for a car making 271 hp, I can't beleive it makes that much with so little exhaust flow. It looked like a 2-1/4" pipe diameter with way too many resonators. The control arms of the suspension were all aluminum, and beefy at that. All in all I was happy-very happy, makes me more impatient than ever. I wish they would've opened the doors, but no shot this time, oh well I guess i'll wait till I get mine

2-1/4" exhaust pipe? The Evos in the LA auto show have 4" pipes, and according to the offical mini brochure that they have at the show, all Evo 8s has "Dual-mode muffler with variable back-pressure relief valve and 4" chrome-plated tailpipe.

Wow, 4" pipes? The Evo must be powered by a gas-turbine engine.

I belive its a 2 1/2" exhaust system with a 4 in tip out of the muffler. I plan on swapping it out for the apex N1 3" titanium cat back system anyways. Not only is it lighter but with a 3" diameter it will be more than enough to hit 350HP+

I'd be surprised if it was even 2 1/2". 2 1/4" is probably more likely. You can pretty much count on 2 cats and a restrictive muffler on the stocker.

There's many hp hiding there. I think for the boost levels the EVO is running and the reported HP the system must be very restricted. I have a feeling once you drop in an intake and 3" from turbo to tail, you will have an STI beater...

Seeing 30 HP from that alone would not surprise me. Esp with a MBC to keep the boost level constant instead of tapering off. Just my .02

You may have an Sti beater with an intake and an exhaust, but I think you will also have no warranty anymore.

That is if the STi is stock......There are 3 cats on the STi and because is LEV, once you take out all that cats you can find the ture HP.
