National EVO Gathering?

I wanted to get EVO owner's opinions on a huge Mitsubishi EVO National Gathering? I know there are many EVO events, but not a big National Gathering. Ok here are my ideas, because I know some of you are thinking this has already been done. Not to this extent?

Some Ideas I thought of-

Drag Competition, opened to all...
Time Attack Competition, opened to all...
Autocross Competition, opened to all...
Car show Competition, opened to all...
Audio/Video Competition, opened to all...
Dyno Competition...
Rally Competition...
Major Sponsorships from the Big Dawgs like Vishnu, Dnyo Flash, HKS, Apexi, Turbo Trix and etc...
Contests, Food, and Games...
Models, lots of Models (Wet Bikini Contest, hell yeah)...
Opened to other vehicles, invite only though...
Magazine Coverage...
Vendors...
Prizes, maybe even Cash Prizes
Maybe get Mitsubishi Motors of America support
Advertisement, outside of EVOm.net? Maybe just alittle, I know people would go, because people love cars and love seeing fast cars. The second most popular sport in the world behind Soccer is, yup you guessed it, Auto Racing. What on average pulls higher television ratings than the NBA Regular Season and Major League Baseball Regular Season, yup, hill billy Nascar. I swear I don't understand why more money isn't poured into a sport that has such a huge upside.

These are just some ideas, I know an event like this could be very expensive and difficult to plan, but if done right could be great for the EVO and a lot of fun. Plus all these events could be held on same facility, California Speedway for example could easily hold such an event? Could something like this ever happend? The Supra boys can do it, why can't the EVO community do it and do it better? Also I know all about the DSM gathering, but is focused on DSMs and drag racing, the event I would love to see would have something for everybody, because that is what is so special about the EVO because it so good at many things. Some potential problems I see is picking a location? I know a lot of people would want to go, but nobody wants to travel thousands of miles, but I think it would only be fair to have it in an area heavily populated with EVOs (partly why I did a regional poll)? Another problem can be planning, such an event would take a huge amount of time, and too much for one person. Best bet would be for a committee to plan it. This helps to eliminate biasm too, such as hating drag racing or bikini contests (who the f***?). So what do you guys think, possible, or never will happend? Any ideas on what you would like to see?

(Damn I wish I owned an EVO, God why have you forsaken me!)

I really would like to see this happen... if the date and location were set a month in advance, I would definitely go.

I recommend somewhere in the midwest or east coast. If it comes down to it, there could be two or three events if there is enough interest.. one for east, midwest, and west.

I like the idea, drag, autox and a road course would be great, but the problem is where will you make this so that its a fair trip to everyone? i mean i'm in Pittsburgh so really, i think this is almost impossible, but if you can make this work, i'm in.

I am a member of another car forum and we do this once a year in Chicago. We have a three day weekend set aside. Friday is the gathering day...hang out, meet new members and party with old friends. Saturday we have a show-n-shine and give out trophies for different classes. Then that night we have a group cruise and party some more. On Sunday we head to Byron Race Track and have our own bracket races with trophies for winners. We have had an average of 50 members over the last three years and this year looks to be even bigger turnout.

As for the huge style show, it would be very hard to get vendors and Mitsu to buy into something that isn't proven as a big gathering. You'd probly need a few years of growth to get that kind of backing. But if someone decided to take the ball and run with it, you could definately get something together like I do with the other group. Gotta walk before you can run. All it takes is a few willing members to start the process rolling.

yeah if your even going to consider a national event you can't have it in cali or east coast because no one from the opposite side is going to go. just a thought....

somwhere in the middle of texas. plain and simple.

and i wouldn't try to make it TOO over the top. a nice meet and drag day would be cool. i know its a lot easier/safer to drag race and rent out a track than say a road course.

Thats what I was thinking too. Texas is a good spot, but then what about those Chicago and NE peeps. It is really hard to find a good spot that everyone is wanting to attend. Sponsors could help a lot with the payments of the track.

well, that would be nice as there would be no cost to Us. i know its not THAT much to rent a track for a day.

and texas is not that far from the NE and NW....its gonna take a day to drive it from just about anywhere on either coast. but hey, sometimes we gotta pay for living the coastal good life.
