Sport compact car is going to report thailand testing next issue and then dyno it a couple of month after the trip when SCC get their own car. They mention 247 wheel hp on the evo VII and hopefully our car is under rated and somewhere close to it.

Euro spec VII
0-60 5.2 sec.
1/4 MI 13.5@103mph
72mph slalom
60-0 103 feet!

Let's wait and hope our's matches or betters the euro version.

Sport compact car has the same reason for not bring the ACD as one of our members.

Scc mentioned that the hydraulic controls to run those systems occupy the same space as the U.S evaporative emission systems. This statement was similar to the one that themothership has gave us. Hopefully Mitsubishi finds a space and give us
ACD soon. His input will always be well respected on this forum. He deserves a gold star for hitting the answer right on the money

Oh, yeah as of now we've seen all the picture from the 3pg article from scc already.

The only thing I would say is to not get too excited yet.

SCC tested the EVO 6 in May of 2000 and got a 12.9 @ 106 out of it.

EI says their JDM EVO's run 12.8 (I read it before, I "believe" on their website, but I couldn't find it at the time of this post).

But I've read elsewhere on the net that the US EVO is expected to run 13.7/13.8???

Who knows who's right??? I think we will just have to wait until the magazines run them and THEN the real answer will be out when WE/US i.e. good drivers who know how to launch an AWD car run them at the track.

To the best of my recollection their evo vii had a worn clutch because they get to test after everyone else did or something? Does anyone has that issue to double check. I recall one of the magazine mentionign that for the evo vii but forgot which one.

That is exactly what I remember also (about the other mags beating the **** out of it first). if you could knock off .4 on the launch that would be about a 13.1-13.2 which is pretty damned fast.

Wish the car would get in my garage faster!!!!

I spoke about this ORVR in another thread, though it appears that it only applies to the AYC. Thus we may never see the Super AYC in the US Evo...

actually, as a tech I can tell you that the evaporative emmisions controls on all vehicles consists of a carbon canister (not much bigger than magazine-except about 2-3" thick), and a couple of extra hoses that run besides the fuel lines and also along the filler neck. Gas tanks are no bigger than normal. My theory is that in increasing fuel tank size they ran into tighter fitment issues. I feel that they will be able to fit anything they want on the car by next year

Sorry I don't know how to link to the post but;
DSMBRETT posted in the Evo tech forums that a US spec Vlll was dynoed on a AWD dyno and it put down 230 hp to the wheels!!!

That's only 17 hp less than the JPN Euro spec Vll put down to the wheels. Looks like an airfilter and exhaust will take care of that.

How could someone already dyno this car? Most all wheel drive dyno has different #'s but 230hp to all the wheel mean close to 300hp?

Woundn't it be funny if our evo viii has the same wheel horsepower as the STI

Actually, if you take 18% for losses, you get 271.4 HP as the crank number!

No, mrAWD if you take 18 for losses you get 280.5, 15.13 losses will give you 271.
