Do alll evo owners have tranny problems??

What can be done to beaf up the tranies??

Cro-treat maybe?? what is the weak link in the evos.



Im in between the STI and the EVO MR. im leaning hard toward the MR, its just more i read, the less i want one .

you wont find a real answer, some have problems some dont, i think a lot of it has to do with the driver, even though a lot have to do with weak parts, but that goes for both cars(probably a little more for the evo) , one isnt really better than the other, usually if u take care of your car it wont break, weak link is the clutch and the transfer case, and i was actually wondering if there was anyway to increase the transfer case and tranny strength too

 

its all driver...you have to understand that your evo is not meant to drag race...once you get that, your tranny will be fine..it is quite a rush off the line though

 

I't's more a quality problem than anything else. Some shift like crap, some don't. Mine shifts like crap, if I don't rev match (up or downshift) it grinds. When the tranny is cold (below freezing) it doesn't like going into gear. I need to push the clutch in for 30 to 45 seconds, press toward 3rd (won't go in) pull toward 4th (won't go in) push into 3rd, put in 1st or reverse depending on which way I want to go.
If I try making a 1-2 shift at over 6k I must wait for the engine to come down to under 4k to shift or it grinds and will NOT go into 2nd gear.

 

Hey Bill! Same thing that you said..if its really cold its not going into 2nd..

 

mine works great. I only have 10k miles but never had a problem and I drive it pretty hard, although I don't launch hard often. Still on stock clutch too.

 

call Jon at Team Rip in kalamazoo mich. he will diagnose your prob. and hook u up. he just did my TC and it is working A1. my tranny was warrenteed through dealer.

 

All I can say about that is: I got mine at Freehold Mitsubishi
