Help with EGT probe

I just got my Defi BF's and I am going to install them today. Has anyone done their own drilling and tapping on their manifold? If so do you have any pics or tips on doing it.

I did mine, it is real easy. Obviously make sure you have the right size bit for drilling and then the correct size npt tap(I believe that is what it's called). Start your car and start drilling, all the shavings will be blown out of your exhaust. Once drilling is finished tap it while the car is still running, and you are good to go. If you tap it in the #1 runner through the bolt hole that holds your heat shield on you will gain some height for a longer probe. Took me like an hour to do the whole thing.

well, since this came up, for those who installed EGT into exhaust manifold,

how did you get the metal shaving out?

It may be more difficult and time consuming but I will be removing my manifold for the drilling and tapping. I searched and found quite a bit mainly on the thread sizes. Thanx alot and I will post some pics up ASAP!

The safest way is to remove the manifold, but the "trick" is to do it with the car running. The pressure from the exhaust gas keeps the shavings out of the mani.

Dont use the mounting hole for the heat shield. Bad idea...I did mine with the car running the first time and it would be easier if I had a glove.
