20 grand+. OMG. All I have to say, is that if I was planning on spending more than 50k on a car, I would NOT be driving an evo right now...

Ive spent 500 bucks on my head unit w/ sirius. Rest of the sound system going in later.

Adding up everything I've purchased I'm at 23,109.02. This does not include maintenence or labor. Only products and shipping. Of course some of these things I've sold to get something different so I don't have that much worth of stuff still on the car, but that is how much I've spent since I bought her. And there's not stopping now...

well.... from what i know an evo with over 5k in good mods can outperform most supercars on the track.... watch Top Gear, the Evo FQ320 beat the gallardo around the track and was 2nd or 3rd on the wall of best times. Thats why we spend so much on our Evo's

guys, guys, guys

$20K+ for your evo? I mean, I love my evo but what are you guys doing besides TBE, ECU flash, cams, gears, fuel pump,TT, SAFC? Maybe another turbo? Add another $4k. That's max $10K. Where is the other 10K going to? Wheels that add little to no WHP? That's max $4000 including tires incl install. We're at $14K. Boy, people are either getting ripped of from the labor or you're building a replica HKS Evo with full carbon fiber

Just forget the ricey intakes, heat shields, titanium shifters/pedals, aftermarket intercooler that add little to no WHP. Most of our stock stuff is sufficient. My god, we must have some trust fund babies on this board. Just my 2 cents......

Wheels/Tires = $2k
Race Tranny = $2650
Clutch = $2795
DVD Player = $2k

That's almost 10k right there, and I haven't even listed my performance mods.

I've spent about $2,600......greddy ti exhaust, UTEC (not installed yet), injen intake w/ upper intercooler piping, greddy type s BOV, and labor......in the next few months im getting apexi downpipe, HFC, HKS 272 cams, aem cam gears, walbro fuel pump, arp head studs, crower spings and retainers, ACT clutch, faze boost/egt gauges, B&M short shifter, a set of summer and winter tires, and a custom tune on the UTEC after all this crap is installed. Should run me about $5K. Man, whoever came up with the say "horsepower is addictive" is freakin right on !

Oh i can understand 5 grand...even 10. But i think if youre easily exceeding 20 grand on a a 30k car....the law of diminishing returns set in a looooong time ago.

To me it seems like for the evo...you can get really good returns in power/performance for really cheap initally...but as you go up the power scale...it gets REALLY expensive. More so for this car than say, a corvette or something.

amen to the tires! In mods I've got umm

450 BR 3" catback
125 BR 3" dp
150 BR 3" high flow cat
200 Dynoflash mail in
225 Safc2
100 safc harness
75 BR MBC
75 walbro 255
1200 17x8 EmotionCR's
125 rays lugs
150 Mu Pads
150 Tint

Thats about 3k.. I've got another 2-3k worth before I'll really be happy

Tires:

600 Blizzaks
800 S-03's
700-1000 (undecided on what to mount on new rims)

Thats 2100-2400 or so just on tires not including mount/balance etc..

I don't even want to know what I've got maintenance.. I change the transfer case fluids every other oil change etc..

Bottom line: Was it worth it?

HELL YES
