Wont get into gear after SS clutch line install

ok i installed a SS clutch line and bled it and ontop of that, adjusted the clutch pedal so its lower to the ground (adjusted the rod), but not too much, it still has little bit of play. But problem is, my stupid car wont get into any gear, even when it does, its REALLY notchy, barely engages, but most of the time i tested it, it wont engage any gear. I look at the shift fork and its moving, what else could be wrong?

Have you tried pumping the clutch pedal 4 or 5 times before you shift into gear? If that works, then you still have air in the line. Otherwise, you probably just adjusted the engagement point too close to the floor.

Sounds to me like your not getting enough travel to disengage the clutch...personally I would re-bleed the line.

For those who responded and for those who will respond. Do you have an ACT and have you had any problems getting into gears? My first gear is notchy and i always have to put it into another gear before reversing. Prior to this ACT install i had no shifting problems.

I would second rebleeding the line.. are you doing it by yourself? Do you have a speedbleeder? How are you bleeding them? Why did you adjust the clutch pedal?

My ACT works perfect. Now let's analyze this. The ss line is not the cause and I take it you are experienced to know what air in the line feels like. What is left? The clutch install and the rod ajustment.

thanks for ur help...i went ahead and re-bled it and after a while, it decided to work, and realized the problem; there was a ton of bubbles in the brak fluid resovoir.. as for the question about the ACt clutch issue and notchiness.....i SOMETIMS need to put it into another gear to go into rev, but most of the time it'll go in, it just somtimes if u try to put it into rev first, it'll make a loud grind noise. thanks for ur help guys,

You also said you adjusted it so it was closer to the ground. That's the wrong way. Adjust it so it engages high up so you can disengage the clutch with the pedal. That's your problem, not bubbles in the reservoir, although you should do a better bleed job as well it sounds like.

wait.adjust it so the clutch is HIGHER off the ground? i was told to adjust it closer to the ground. so theres less free play on the clutch pedal and tahts what i did and been running for 3 days and it feels better, quicker shifts and no free play

Free play is measured from the top not the bottom.

Adjusting the pedal so engagement is closer to the floor will give you more free play when the pedal is at the top. If you adjust the pedal so engagement is too close to the top, the pressure plate will never fully disengage from the disk. The clutch will be preloaded. This leads to the clutch slipping very easily. But if you adjust it too close to the floor, then the pressure plate will never fully release the disk. This will make it difficult to shift into gear, since the engine and transmission never fully separate. Almost like trying to shift without using the clutch.
