so how do you know if the spoiler is working??

well yah i have a evo 7 spoiler...and last ntie i raced a few times on the freeway i prolly went over 100 mph once or twice. i remember someone on the forums stating that if you go over 100mph the spoiler actually works. well i didn't notice a difference. so anyone know how you can tell if its making a difference or not? any feedback would be great! peace

well takeoff usually occurs at about 110 mph, and from there you should see yourself gain a couple feet off the ground every mph.

your spoiler dampener is probably lose, that's why it's not working so well.

At 160 you have about 25 lbs on the rear tires, with the wing it brings the weight up to about 37 lbs.

first off you probably wont feel much of a difference in a straight line at speeds of 110 or so. you need to be really moving to be able to feel the difference. if it isnt moving around at those speeds, and everything seems tight, then it is doing its job. on the few STI's that i have ridden in the spoiler tends to really start to howl at about 120+ you can hear it working, but it also tends to flex more so than an evo's. good luck, FWIW, i dont recomend you trying to do downforce testing at near 130 on any public road.

if you are serious, I don't think you will feel any difference, wing or not, in a straight line.
perhaps if you hit one of those little crowns in the road just right. the effect should be the rear does not wander as much going over bad bits of road.

If your car is slower on the top end with it on versus off, then it's working.

You won't tell in a straightline. Actually most of us won't experience any conditions on the street that will tell us the difference unless we're doubling the speed limit on a curvy backroad, which I doubt many people attempt (or half of those people have totalled their cars). You'll need a highspeed track to have it really matter.
