Basic Maintenance info
Hello. I'm new here, and have been a fan of the Evo line since the 4th generation came out. Now that its available to the US, Im seriously considering getting one. The only thing is... this will be my first turbo vehicle. What I wanna know is the kind of maintennace I'll be doing (oil change & other fluids); more often, etc. Thanks a lot guys.
oil change with mobil 1 synthetic only...every 3-4K miles....rotate tires everytime you change oil or else... change tranny and diff's oils (different types) every 15K miles...new tires every 12-15K miles for the OEMs....new paintjob to repair all the chips from road debris...vandalism repair every other month ( thieves/vandals love evos) ....lots of walking from parking far away...extremely high cost of every single part you can think of...uuu, brake pads every 20K miles or so...hmmm, did I miss anything guys?

My Evo's favorite place to hang out is at the gas station.

Changing your rotors everytime you change pads is kinda expensive. Either get good ones off the bat or get the stock Brembos re-surfaced.

So what type of gas do you recommend I use? The 'good stuff'? [QUOTE] Does the manual suggests a certain type?

thats right! I forgot about the gas! 93oct... fill every 200 to280 miles depends on how you drive...I'm all highway so I usually get 280 to the tank. :P and with gas prices now... thats 12 gallons a fill @ 2.19 a gallon...ick...well, so much for going out this weekend.
I have had the car for 18 months and drove 20k miles. The cumulative maintenance costs include three service visits to the dealership ($200), 16qts of Mobil-1 oil ($70), a set of new tires ($800), and about 75 tanks of sunoco 93 gas. My front brake rotors were replaced under warranty, and the pads have 50% left. The stock clutch is still strong.
Not too bad considering the level of performance it offers...

Dont forget to check your engine oil every 1000 miles... they eat oils quickly.
