That must be one hell of a setup you're running on that oil cooler. I'm guessing your oil is running cooler than even your engine coolant.

If it's running too cool that's only a question of using the wrong thermostat, weird that that would happen, well even the best make mistakes sometimes I guess.

??? ... There has not been any mistakes made ... Iīve been told that there are no Thermostat at all in the stock EVO oilcooler ... but when using forged pistons and higher boost itīs more important to have the "right" temp. ...

What normal oiltemp. do you have??? Do you have a oiltemp. gauge???

Well, you said yourself that the car was running too cool, I call that a mistake, not a bad one, but still a mistake. They must've used an HKS oil cooler before, that's why I'm surprised, and it is always important to have the right temp, with or without forged pistons, even in a 1l Polo. Yes, I have an oiltemp gauge, but it's not fitted, hehehehe. So right now it reads below 0....

OK ... then we all are making mistakes because the stock EVO with the stock oilcooler is running to cold too ... thatīs a fact ... ... now Iīm one of the few ones who are driving an EVO with the right oiltemp ... ...

hmmm, that's interesting news, I never heard of that. What temp is the standard car running and what should it be running? What do you have to do to get the car running the right temp, i.e. at what tuning level does it equal out? Who measured/calculated it and how?

I am also running an HKS oil cooler and there is a thermostat. My car only has simple mods and I only run 1.3bar boost. The HKS oil cooler has dropped my oil temp. by about 15C. I hit approx 120-125C after the 4-5 lap when I would get close to 140 after the 3rd lap. My oil temp. is typically 20C below my water temp. Is this supposed to be right?

By the way, I live near the equator and track temps are usually 32-35C.

If anyone here has the Ralliart "original" gauges mounted they will see that the oiltemp. is very low ... I know 2 persons who thought their gauges were broken because they showed about 30-40 degrees celsius ... I belive that is way to low ... those were stock EVOīs with standard oilcooler ...

My opinion is that the workingtemp. should be over 80 degrees celsius ...

Such BS!

Oil temp should easily go over 80 C! And if you guys really drive your cars, it should go over 110 C!!

I get the feeling these fancy Evos are for posing and for short drag runs?!?

30-40 degrees?? Never ever, unless it was measured while the car was warming up, the oil is MUCH warmer than that, try changing your oil after letting the car run, you need gloves cause it is too hot, probably around 80 degrees. I'll check whether the standard cooler has a thermostat or not, cause it should really have one, otherwise the car would probably die when driving in -30 degrees...

What bolloks is this then!! I agree with N.ring!!
30-40 degrees at running temperature?? Where do you live the North Pole? I think this is the funniest thing I hear this month! Cheers made me laugh!!
Even if you turn your car on ad leave it ideling for 5 minutes oil temp will probably be between 60-70deg....all depends what the climate is like too.

And I don't believe any car fitted with an oil cooler doesn't have a thermo!! The oil has to first reach operating temperature...if it was circuled through the cooler from start up the oil would have lots of trouble doing so and you would have problems.

Well sure if you all say so ... I live in Sweden and when driving in the night in spring we have about 0-5 degrees ... A friend of mine (has an EVO with about 500bhp and standard oilcooler) was out one night recently doing some hard driving ... when he got home he immediately picked up the oilstick and unscrewed the oilplug ... he said that the oil wasnīt even hot ... but you donīt have to belive me ... itīs OK ... I know what Iīve seen and experienced ... thatīs enough for me ...

Iīm surpriced that the stock EVO doesnīt have an Oiltemp.gauge ...

I would like to see a picture of a stock EVO with an oiltemp. gauge mounted that shows 90-100 deg. ... Iīll belive when I see it ...
