this would work for both of us however my other car loan (98 talon crashed) is charged off (Household bank screwed me by forgetting the apt#) & she has too much debt based on her income to qualify for a debt loan or refi. she will just let all her credit cards go when she has the baby.

No, the question was "What was the total amount you financed?" That means how much did you finance? You didn't finance $45k, that's just how much you pay after 60 months of financing. The amount you finance is the amount of the purchase (or total amount of goods combined to make this total). Also, $637 X 60 mos does not equal 45k, it's only 38k, so you have to have a 6-year loan. Nor does $611 X 60 equal 40k, that's only 36.6k, so this one has to be 66 months.

So, somehow you can afford $1250/month car payments with 40k in debt that is too much for your income, yet you put on a lot of mods that make the car less reliable and more prone to breaking (not to mention you think 25psi is ok)? With bad credit, a car loan on a crashed car still to pay, tons of debt, a baby on the way, and mods, I foresee a bankruptcy.

I was offered
1) $500 down
2) at 19%
3) on $32,255

Needless to say I refused that and just wrote them a check for $32,255. A year and a half later I'm still living on bread and water and I love it.

That brings a tear to my eye. I feel ashamed for not having this level of passion for Evos. My purchase was simple, because my wife and I make a lot of money and don't really notice the monthly payment...plus, the insurance is very low from being married.

Could I get a little advice here?

I was planning on putting a $500 deposit on a IX, and I wanted to know, does that go toward my down payment upon delivery?

Yes, it should, but make sure you get it in writing when leaving the deposit. That's how mine worked on the MR.

Wow, thank you everyone for putting in all this information! I didn't expect this to blow up so much. This is really going to help me out in planning my finances to purchase my Evo.

A few questions, is the GSR in the US the base Evo?
What is SSL?

You guys complain about 6% APR being high, my first car is a '01 Mirage that I got @ 18.25% Heh. No credit, first car, co-signer had terrible credit, lol.

Thanks again for the input everyone.

03 evo purchased used at 1 year old and 800 miles (moron had to have a vette )
2k down
financed 23k at 5%
$380 for 72 months.
normally don't like to finance for 6 years, but since I purchased the car for 4-5k less than they were selling for used at the time...ended up ok.
insurance actually went down from my 98 eclipse gst I sold prior to purchasing the car.
paying $600 a year for full coverage through progressive

Kickbacks and manufacturer's incentives don't add up to 1k. Maybe if a dealer was in dire straights or had a ton of new-year models coming soon it would make sense, but otherwise...?
invoice is a bulls**t number the dealers use to negotiate with. holdbacks, advertising allowances and flooring charges will still make a dealer a few grand on the deal. I see below invoice ads every day in the paper here on about every make car today. our 98 gst was purchased for 1k "below invoice" but you can bet the dealer still made bank. dealers here are offering invoice on evo's now, but wait until one has been on the lot for a few months and they are paying interest to floor the car. they'll move it.
interesting that he didn't mention a trade though. that will open up another can of worms, especially if he walks in and tries to get $1 over nada wholesale (without adding in all his addons if he has any). dealer will walk him out the door.

There's no way you get full coverage for $600 a year on an EVO through Progressive. Absolutely no way...

That's only $300/6 months and $50/month.
