Oh yea .. there's the 3rd type .. OLD SCHOOL who doesn't like to adapt to electronics driving your car for you .. Remember, people who complained about the AYC are those who have been racing for a while, and they are unwilling to unlearn how to drive to accomodate the electronics..

The AYC is also different from the 4 generations that had it .. the 4-5-6 are not as strong as the 7 and the 8-9 are better and allows more control over the torque split

Please, really .. if MMC really decide to release the fullup version of the 9 (ACD/SAYC) in US, take it to an autocross, or take a corner at speed (safely of course ! ) ..
I like your thinking but I have to make this one last comment on AYC. The system works there is no doubt about it. When I first bought my Evo not only was it the first 4WD car ive ever owned but it was the most powerful car ive ever owned. So it took a lot of getting used to. Some trial and error and only one near miss but im still learning how to drive the car. Im not the greatest driver in the world nor do I claim to be. Anyone that knows me knows I push MY limits first not the CARS. All this drifting and tail sliding I see in videos would be eventually destroy any AYC equiped Evo. I fully understand Mitsus reason for not bringing AYC to the US. Drag racing is bigger in the US than it is anywhere eles in the world and if everyone is already complaining about warrenty issues now, AYC will bring up a whole new can of worms.

My only complaint about AYC is the maintnence. Anyone that has done a little reading on AYC knows that a AYC equiped TC has three different oil compartments. Two that need to be changed regularly and one that needs to be changed about as much if not less than your brake fluid. It is the one that actually controls the AYC clutch plates. This is the one that if you dont have the "MUT" tool it requires lifting the car, starting the car, turning wheels while draining, blah blah blah. This doesnt need to be changed often but when it does it is a *****. Trust me I did it.

HA (again) .. It really depends on what the dealer wants to tell you...

There's only 2 type of fluid in the AYC, SPIII ATF and Hypoid gear oil .. Gear oil is for the TC, while the ATF is for both the pump and the clutch pack bath ..

ONLY the gear oil and the clutch bath needs to be serviced ..

YOU DON'T NEED TO SERVICE THE PUMP ATF !! much like your power steering fluid ..

Lets count the reasons .. you don't like AYC and decide to take it out .. later finding out it's much better with the AYC
You broke your AYC and need to take it apart to rebuild

Other than that .. no reason to change the pump ATF

I've been running the standard ATF in the AYC pump since the day I bought it .. still working fine for me .. and it's been 3 years now .. oh yea .. if you really want to change it .. there's ways to do it without the MUT !!

gunzo- good looking out on the fluid. I typed the wrong thing without looking. I know this cause I put Honda power steering fluid in mine.

Well .. that's the problem .. you don't know or understand, and take it out .. why ?? why not use it, and IF it breaks .. take it out ???

AYC /SAYC is not the weak link in the trnsmission, that's the misconception that everyone has .. of course if it is compared to a mechanical unit, then the mechanical LSD is definitely much stronger.

According to the handbook .. you don't need to do anything.. standard fluid changes only every 20 000miles .. change the gear oil and the clutch pack ATF

Likewise for the ACD, though you probably can find info from the 05 MR

Well, I sold the car myself overseas for $14K and EI said they would cover the shipping charge for it which came out to $2500. To no suprise they didn't come through for that and so I got stuck with the bill and ended up getting back $11,500 and the rest is yet to be refunded. I have spoken to Celm about this but Adam is MIA in all this. I highly doubt any money will be refunded in the future.

Kind Regards,

M

If anyone is in SoCal (L.A. area) and is willing to come to an AutoX, I usually attend every practice event. I've been driving my Evo 7 for over 2 1/2 years now. The car still has AYC installed. And I couldn't be happier. It is noticeably different than an Evo 8.

So come down and see for yourself. And stop hating.
