Vishnu Stage 1+ Modifications: Review
After working out with some friends I got my helmet out of the garage and put it in the Evo. I won't have to borrow one this time around at the track tomorrow night. But, I'm not running with one until I have to.
Who knows, maybe I'll drive like a Grandpa.
On the way home I drove around for awhile tonight, a bit longer than I needed to, less than I wanted to. The windows were down and the air was cool. Man I hope the weather is like this tomorrow night at the track. I was flying around and up the highway On ramps, Hammering the throttle and listening to the exhaust. In that echoing canyon under the highway over passes, a three inch dump back catless exhaust is one heck of a fun sound. Then, to leap onto the highway on ramp and accelerate up to stupid fast speeds, ah.... Motorific Goodness. I enjoy my exhaust note entirely too much at high rpms. I turn my stereo down to listen to the car.
You know one of the coolest things about HKS 272 cams in an Evo, at least in My Evo...? After a hard run, the cams lope DEEPER, like a beast breathing. It feels just like I just ran a horse really hard, and it wants to go again!
You guys would have laughed or winced if you had seen me at a local track the other night. The first time I took off, I tried to launch my Stock Evo Clutch with perfect skill..and ended up looking like I had never driven a car before. I did produce some smoke. But, having not very many miles on the clutch, and having never launched on it before, I'm sure it is fine. I did learn that night at Holly springs.. that a moderate launch can be obtained somewhere in the 3000 rpm range, and I was getting better at it with every pass.

Okay, here are my times: I'm babying my car out of the hole. I'm not the fastest shifter in the world. This was on 93 octane with the stock clutch. The stock clutch is really really forcing me readjust my launch technique..(verses an ACT 2600 in an awd DSM - my former experience)
A .000 is a perfect reaction time.
My slip went this way:
Reaction time = .135
60 foot = 1.952
330 = 5.457
1/8 = 8.349
MPH = 82.88
1000 = 10.842
1/4 = 12.931
MPH = 108.58
I had alot of fun. The car was smooth and fast. =0)
One of my friends with a DSM over boosted and probaby threw a rod. I was sooo grateful my car didn't even break a sweat.
