the other damage was an STi trashed a CV joint.
Evo's dominated.
not many quick subarus. i ran my wrx wagon in the open time trials and knocked off a 13.3 on my 1st run (1st time with my current setup)
subarus still have a while before they can go toe to toe with the DSM's if the evo was available in a wagon, i would've considered it. just need the hatch space for work.

I was there and goto college right by showdown. I would feel bad for these guys but they caught my friends car on fire. I would never take my car there. I do feel bad for these guys but I don't think they are capable of building a fast car. They wanted 9s and were hitting 10s and 11s with it. Some kids in the stands almost got into a fight with these guys afterwards, wasnt sure what was said but showdown was obviously pretty pissed off enough. Showdown is trying to blame the track for not putting it out quick enough but it was a privately held event and the person holding the event (buschur i think) is responsible for having however much safety equipment they think is necessary. But nothing but a firetruck couldve put it out. Anyways, goodluck to showdown on their next car, maybe they should stay away from nitrous.

Thank God that guy was OK. If he had been unconcious when it happened, he would have died!!!
They emptied like 11 fire extinguishers on it and couldn't put it out. The fire dpt took like 15 mins to get there.
Parts of the car had melted to the track!!! Cleanup took about 45 minutes.
Vid of the fire...

That sucks. They just let it burn and then when it was already destroyed the fire dept. shows up to puts it out.

You are correct, nitrous oxide is not flammable, it is an accelerant under extreme pressure (800-1100). If there was a Nitrous explosion, it must have split a fuel line and then ultimately caught the engine bay and underside on fire. You are suppose to have a power on/off switch at the rear so the safety crew can cut the power to the fuel pump(s). I have seen dozens of fires associated with Nitrous, none have gotton out of hand like this one seems. This should have never burned this far with the proper extinguishers (Halotron or class B/C).Originally Posted by TomsEVO
Im not saying it wasnt nitrous as I wasnt there but I think nitrous is an accelerant. It by itself is not flammable, it enhances an already present fire as it is just more oxygen than the atmosphere. Maybe im wrong but it would be interesting to see what started the whole thing since it appears it started in the back.

Ouch, sorry to see that.
I've got the identical car, looks like it's a catchy thing I'll keep mine off the track.

That might be the same DSM from last years shoot out. The driver in the 2nd pic of the posts above looks like the same driver from this years fire. Fire suits atleast look the same, but I know they made more than one like that.
Thats a shame. MIR always has a atleast two pickup trucks with 500gal tanks on the bank for every event. The Firebird that caught fire last year at IvD didnt' turn out that bad

I have 3 videos of the car burning and smoking if anyone wants to host them for me, the amount of smoke was INSANE.

I can't imagine watching my car burn like that...
