how so? is the STi any harder to add a bigger turbo, intake/exhaust, or ECU programming to??? space limited or something?

i have heard that the motor isn't as bulletproof as the Evo's - there were a few blown motor stories on NASIOC that are partly what scared me away from the STi - so is that the "basic design" issue you're referring to?

i think Subie would have been better off bringing the 2.0 motor here, but.....

Great Job Al 10.18 is so close to the 9's. If you added some NOS you would be there for sure.
Big for Curt Brown wow a 10.9 on stock turbo is incredible! Make's you think who needs a turbo upgrade if my Evo was that fast I would not know what to do.

so do you think that the Subie tuners here are just bad? there are a lot of fast WRX's out there, so i would think if they have the parts for the STi they should be able to tune them too. or do you think there's some other issue?

i'm just wondering, not trying to pick sides or make excuses. afterall, i drive an Evo and would rather see the Evo win the battle!!

Subarus are definitely far behind because of the layout of the engine. Long headers, inefficent intake manifold, and top mount intercooler all play big parts in making power. Subaru owners have to work around all of these deficiencies to make big power. It's just much easier to make power in evos with a short header, factory front mount intercooler routing, and a very high flowing head and intake.

so the regular WRX would have this problem too, right? i guess most of the high HP ones i've seen have had FMIC's on them. not sure what they did about the headers and intake manifold issues, but it does sound like the design makes things more difficult.

man, i wish i wasn't travelling for work right now..... i'd go drive the MR around for a bit if i was home!

Subaru's certainly do NOT suck. They are not quite up to the EVOs levels, but they do not suck by ANY means. Stop being a moronic fanboy.
