P.S. Nice Sti , you running the Green? How does it spool? 11.89 at a 112.MPH trap is amazing I mean That is some QUICK shifitng . That is what I trap at and I am only at low 12's but I only make 350WHP, which dyno were you on?

I have the GPMoto GT32 kit... Its getting something bigger right now. My car should have been trapping well north of 112-113, but a really bum alignment, bent rim, etc made it errr exciting north of 100mph. It can run good times compared to many bigger turbos on STi's though given it makes boost early and in the low gears. The AVO500 I had wouldn't make full boost till 5th gear. And thats with the boost controler completely blocking the boost pressure to the wastegate till 23psi (my desired boost). More over the GT32 setup on my car has made 23psi somewhere well before 3K rpm. hard to tell exactly when as it would spool like a lightswitch was flipped with the resulting 4wheel burnout... in 3rd gear... from a roll. I know the recent ones have been actualy toned down in spool to make them drivable. Basicly with my STi with it tuned for "soggy" boost response, it felt lightning quick compared to the Stock EVO RS.

On the STi's motor, it WILL hold power. Pistons are not all that, but even so people have seen 500WHP on a completely stock long block. I know I've seen 455ft-lbs on a local car before I backed out of the run. It was on the way up so no idea what it would have run if I didn't let off but the front was comming off the dyno. Lol streching a 10K lbs tiedown strap 2"+ with the front LSD's action.

Anyhoo, my motor is still bone stock, and I should find some new ground in the WHP possible on one. Lol 80+ lbs a minute turbosetup. Then if that isn't enough I can go to over 100lbs/minute quickly and cheaply.

Precisely the problem with my STi. Stock pistons, call them Hyperotectic or whatever, they are crap cast, and one good det event and bye bye ringlands.

Its only 600 bucks for some pistons, but its a pita to yank the motor, heads, have it honed, etc. So I'll run the stock internals til it blows then go from there.

The stock bottom end is good, however its not balanced very well. A rebuild with a blueprint, balance, forged pistons and some good cams will wake it up.

And this is not an excuse I knew what I was getting into, I just like the boxer layout better in terms of low CG, lomgitudinal layout, etc.

The 4G63 is a badass motor for sure, can't argue with a twin scroll setup, short headers and short IC piping. Makes for a stout responsive motor. Not to mention the high boost capability of an iron block.

You guys have it made in terms of motor, I just prefer the STi for all around autocross, track, and some drag.

If it was just for drags I'd have bought an EVO.

actually... we have it made in chassis/suspension as well... just ppl overlook what the car was designed to do and just beat it off in a straight line... and a set of Tein S springs don't hack it... look out for the Evo's with true suspension parts on them... (saving up for my Ohlins)...

if i was just for drags... i would've bought a Cobra... but i'm not... i'm about handling and ease of applying power/potential to the courses and backroads... hence why i looked at the Evo and STi... just the sharper steering and more telepathic responsiveness (point and shoot) sold me on the Evo...

I know you aren't saying that the stock bottom end is running a 140 mph traps because that would be some big BS.

We have a member on this Board that Trapped at 138MPH right before my Eyes with a GT35R, 272's, EMS, and Race gas He was missing bad up top too so he had to upgrade to a Coil on Plug ignition.

Oh and the 2.5l in the spec-c gets the works meaning forged and etc... it is a lot better than the bottom end we get here.

I get what you're saying though, the overseas 2.0l is stronger.
No, the EJ207 (V7/V8 JDM STi motor) is not closed deck. It is semi-closed just like the USDM EJ257. Some of the added displacment in the 2.5l comes from a larger bore so the EJ207 has thicker cylinder walls than the EJ257. The older and far less popular EJ20G is closed deck, as well as the EJ22T that came in the '91-'93 USDM Legacy turbo.

and it's not that we're the only country that doesn't get a forged piston in a STi... we're the only country not to get the real STi engine period... the real one, the 2.0L, is an iron block w/ forged internals over seas if i'm correct on this still, or did the rest of the world start using the 2.5 too???
The EJ motors have never been produced with an iron block. The JDM Ver. 8 EJ207 does not have forged pistons. The UK had a limited run of a Type25. Very few were made so I don't think you can quite call it a production car.
