Question kansai air box install

So, I got my HKS RS intake put on, and while trying to put on the Kansai air box, I came across a couple problems. First, I'm not sure where to stick the boost solenoid (sp?), but that's pretty minor as I can tuck that about anywhere. The larger problem is the crash sensor that's right by the headlight. It sticks back too far for the air box to properly fit in (at least that's how it appears.) Any info on this would be GREAT, so thanks in advance.

I have had mine on my shelf since I bought it. Word of advice...DO NOT UNPLUG THAT SENSOR!!! My airbag light has been on since and for some reason I can't clear the code...even Al from DynoFlash couldn't clear it.

I relocated my solonoid too, but then my radiator hose won't let it sit flush, and god help ya fitting the intake and all the piping thru that hole.

Where the hell do all the wires go? I don't read Japanese either, so I got pissed and forget about it.

Oh yeah, HKS circle earth wont work with this setup either, but I broke that too

Yea, it was a close fit for sure. I think that I had all the wires out of the way, but that dern sensor was in the way. I didn't unplug it due to exactly what you mentioned, but I figure if there was somewhere else reasonable to put it, I'd be in good shape. Can't quite sort that part out...thanks for the input.

And I did think about posting in one of the other forums, but I figured it was kind of a toss-up as to the best place. If the mods think it should be somewhere else, I'd understand a move...I just wanted the most visibility since this isn't the most common part and this forum probably gets more views than many others.

Man, after a bit more work, I still can't get the SOB in. I bent the bracket that holds that impact sensor a bit, so it's out of the way...but it's like the RS suction intake is too long for it...maybe I just need to rotate the intake tube a bit so that it's at a different angle, but I'm done for a while...what a pain in the ****. I really hope to get this thing installed...but currently, I'm going to hang it on the wall or something...

I had this same problem on mine as well, I bent the bracket that holds the airbag sensor so that i just had enough room to slide the box in. It fits in there pretty snug, and for the first week or so, the srs light would come on and off probably from vibration, rubbing, chaffing, or whatever I assumed, but I never unplugged it. But then recently it's just on no matter what, :-/ so I'm kinda stuck on what to do, I was gonna hack the box right there, try n make the sensor fit "in it" almost, but I think it'd look cheesy. Anyone found a good solution to this?? Btw the heating of the sensor makes sense, as it's so close to the radiator/rad fan, and now there's very little space in there, the heat has nowhere else to go really. :-/

Also, with the srs light on, does that imply that my airbag system will not work? No way to eliminate the code either huh? :-/ I love this box, looks great and is very functional, but in hindsight I don't think it was worth this headache. :-/

The SRS code has to be cleared by the dealer. Costs about $100. The impact sensor costs more than $100 ( I think it was $129.). It can be checked with an ohm meter using specs found in the service manual. The problem is that if you pay to clear the code, and the sensor is defective, you'll have to have the code cleared again. I'm not sure if Mitsu would charge twice to clear the code in this case, but I would ask first. In my case, I bought a new sensor, put it in myself, then drove to the dealer and had them clear the SRS code. The lesson for me was to be very careful with those sensors. If they are dropped or damaged, it will be expensive! If you trip the code, but the sensor is undamaged, it will still be expensive!

The sensor can be safely disconnected if... you remove the negative battery ground cable first, then unplug the sensor.(In fact, I think that you can unplug the sensor without removing the battery cable, but if you turn the key on with the sensor disconnected, you will trip the SRS code.) Same goes for the seat belt sensor.
