I felt like an idiot...

Yeah, I was pulling out off the garage and my oldman van was behind. I thought there was room to pull out and next thing you know OMFG I just hit my dad car. And there I was sitting down in the car and my sister inlaw came over and was like WTF. I managed to sand off the paint that was from my dad car and scratches. So I went to the nearest local mitsu. dealer to buy some touch up paint and damn those bastard ripped me off. It was like 14.50 just for a tiny bottle of paint, when I said tiny I mean tiny. Well after applying 5 layers of paint, it look really ****ty. I'm planning on sanding some paint off to smooth it out. It's been a day now and the damn paint still haven't dry yet. So i try waxing the car to see if the parts that I sand off would be shiney, but it doesn't turn out too well. So I'm afraid that after sanding out some paint and then waxing it, it might not look as pleasing to my eyes. I know it's doesn't look that bad, but dang a dent is a dent. So do you guys have any tips on what to do? cuz I'm thinking aout getting the evo IX bumper instead if it turns out ugly.

Oh yea my dad car only have a scratch on it not all scratch up like mine. Hey you all need to give me props for doing a pretty good job cleaning up the scratches/paints off the bumper I shoulda took some pix before I started fixing it, it was pretty scratched up.

You made a BAD situation, worse. NEVER use touchup paint for that.

Yeah, just take it to a body shop and let the professionals handle it, mate. It will not be expensive at all. You don't want to fudge it up again.

ARRRGHGHHG I still haven't solve my problems with the rims yet and now this Well I thought I could patch the scratches up like I did with photoshop, but I guess I can't. Only if there's a cloning tool like photoshop has

I even bought the original paint and clearcoat to do the paint job right. It ended up even worse than before. Don't do anything if the size of scratch is bigger than 1/4 inch diameter. If you sand it, you will have to paint even bigger area. It never matches. many painters know that. you have to paint the whole bumber if you want clean look.

evolucion, your best bet would have been to remove the whole bumper & paint it...

^ well if he gets it profesionally done they won't have to repaint the old bumper. They'll just blend it. That's what they've always done for me in the past and its always turned out perfectly =)

actually touch up paint can work..

I use the touch up paint and let it dry a little, like a day after(just dont let it get hard), then use scratch X scratch remover to "LIGHTLY" rub the excess paint off of the bumper to get it level and flat with the surrounding paint. Take your time and rub ever so gently. Then let it fully dry, like 3 days most. Then go back over it with the scratch X until it looks good, then waX0r on/waX0r off

Note: Only works best with non-metalic/non-pearl paints, as the rubbing will discolor metal flake. Silver you are out of luck!

It cant hurt to try it, at least you have a chance to save it and not spend $$$ to fix it at a paint shop. I know it works on white

They key thing when it comes to touchup paint is to know "less is better". Always use the absolute minimum amount to fill the scratch or chip to the original paint level. I've had good luck with this approach in masking rock chips on the front bumpers of my cars. Scratches are the toughest for sure and if you don't use the bare minimum to cover them they end up looking like huge scars like the original posters pictures. Touchup paint works the best in places that nobody will see without getting on the ground and getting up close, for damage that's at eye level you are best off getting it fixed by a professional.

I'll take some new pix on what i've done to the bumper Everyone I know was like WTF did you do to your car? I'm thinking about repaint the whole bumper myself, knowing that the touch up paint didn't do as well. I better paint the whole thing than just fixing the scratches. Thanx all
