I would not doubt it one bit.

 

I have been trying to find information on the EVO safety and only find IIHS and NHTSA crash tests on Lancers (which did not do well on side impact). Any suggestions / advice? I love the EVO, but want a safe car. (Maybe add a cage w/ side beams?) Thanks in advance

 

shouldn't the lancer and evo crash tests be similar in respect to side impact

 

I know the test say it has ****ty crash rating, but this kid I know wrecked his 03 EVO into a orchird at a very high rate of speed (75mph +/- 10mph) and pinballed off a bout 4-5 trees and the car was totaled but the cab area (?, where you sit) was totally fine and him and his passenger recieve no injures, not even a scrap, and the passenger didn't have his seatbelt. (very stupid, I don't support) Also most of the wrecked EVOs I've seen, the cab area is usually fine (2 out of 10 have bad cabin damage).

That was a t-bone at 50 MPH and everyone was fine, can't be as bad as everyone thinks.
