New Power!!

Hey guys Im new here and I just got my evo last week and im lookin to add more power but i want to keep it real simple and just go with stages of power and ive looked at Vishnu, Buchur, Works, and Vivid and im looking to spend around 3 grand just on engine mods. My question is out of those companies who seems to have the best reputation and puts out the most power per dollar? I really wouldnt like to reflash my ecu i'd rather have a piggy back or maybe a safc but im looking for around 350whp or to get close to the 11's in the quarter mile. Thanks guys, any input would be great or if you have other suggestions i welcome those too.

well, there is certainly enough info on the forums for you to research. my 2 cents: I would stick to companies that actually tune cars (as opposed to just being a big k-mart internet store) and have shown bonafide results time after time . . .

of the several companies you've mentioned, i'd recommend Buschur and Vishnu in particular.

other companies you might want to look at: TurboTrix, Dyno4Mance, AutoMotoSports (AMS)

I agree with the Buschur nod. For 3k to get 350whp, you might want to consider their stage 1, fuel pump, cams, clutch and tune(better then engine management) . It would get you pretty close.

I definitely second that. IMO Buschur will give you the most bang for the buck and Vishnu's XEDE is a great piggyback management system, so if I was in your shoes, I'd probably go with parts from Buschur, XEDE from Vishnu, installed at TurboTrix or Dyno4mance (both are reasonably close to you, I think).

i think parts-wise, thats a good call, assuming you want the bottom line cost.

the old adage "you get what you pay for" more or less holds true, but its up to the indivudual how much of a compromise in quality you're willing to accept.

As far as the engine management goes, the Xede is pretty solid, and comparable in price to other alternatives. Heres what i mean:

everyone is quick to point out that the s-afc is half the price of the Xede (less than half the price, actaully), but has a fourth of the functions of the Xede also. With the s-afc, you will need larger injectors (to play with the timing), and a boost controller. Add those costs up, and the difference in price is neglible.

lol funny opinions on these forums...

cams are cams same thing whether you buy it from BR, Vishnu or the supermarket. HKS 280, 264 and 272 are the best for your stock springs and retainers aka(stock head). Find the cheapest price and buy it from the nice vendor. Turbo back exhausts are all close but find something that suits your needs ranging from loud ending with perfect fit. You don’t want exhaust the hangs too low or that makes your bumper black you know. Don’t listen to all these members who are sucking on there tuners *****. stage 1+ from vishnu and Stage 4 from BR can be bought in separate parts and you will save yourself some money.. However some tuners are very irrational here and might not like your parts because you did not buy it from them... kidesh to me ..

Good luck

1) i dont think anyone meant that 3rd party parts (such as cams made by HKS) are better if purchased from a particular tuner. i thought it was pretty obvious that they were referring to only those parts that are actaully specific to the tuner.

2) youre right about the irrationality, some tuners on here won't even answer questions or will get all hissy if you didn't buy the parts from them. they also complain about "letting out secrets" and having other people steal their ideas. If you do a search, a while ago, Buschur was getting upset at other tuners like RNR racing for doing a mini battery / upper intercooler pipe combo.

You should do a search on here. Every vendor on here has one group that loves them and another who hates them.

Bottom line: Call the place, talk to someone. Find someone you like and trust. There is no magic setup. They are all doing basicly the same things.

couldn't agree more.

ultimately, when you run into problems, you will be the one that has to deal with them, so find someone you like and trust with your money, and let the tuning begin!
