Last I knew, AMS would get you a good price on their product if you mentioned evolutionm.net ...

Believe whatever you want. I've had portions of my stock piping come loose already (and those do have proper lips on them and were clamped as tight as possible) ... so I, for one, wouldn't trust a sloppy weld to hold any part of my IC piping. The last thing I need is to suddenly come off boost in a high-speed corner... ... not sure what the snide comment about showing off a lower IC pipe is geared towards, since I don't remember mentioning that I wanted to show it off in the first place.

Derek888 - The AMS pipe does not neck down, it starts at the stock turbo exhaust diameter and then expands to fit the IC diameter piping.

I didn't read it as a snide comment at all Ludikraut. I think they were thinking the same thing I was, which is why pay for the showy finish on a pipe that won't be seen? That's part of the reason I won't spring for a 3 pipe kit, 2 of them will never be seen but I'm paying for the finish on all of them. I'm going with the FG pipe down low as it's been gone over ad naseum that the pipe pictured on their site is not the quality they sell now. Two other customers have chimed in to tout the quality of the FG pipe and to my knowledge no one has knocked you or AMS.

^^ In that case, when you get yours, if you don't mind, snap a couple of pics and let us know if it's aluminum or steel.

I already posted that it was powdercoated steel when you first asked what material it was. Other than your complaint about welded beads (which has already been debunked), I don't see the complaint as far as quality goes. Yes, the AMS pipe is nicer looking, I have never said that theirs was not a quality looking piece. Its just, is it worth the extra money to you? for some people it is, for some it isn't. I never intended for this to be a thread about FG vs AMS, I have been merely answering questions and defending my product against false claims that it didn't work.

If your stock couplers keep coming off those "pipes with a real bead" then that must mean that the "real bead" doesn't work, eh? You just need new hose clamps, you are running some insane boost, or you need to clamp it before and after the bead.

does anyone know the actual measurements of the ams piece... is it 2.5 inches with a neck down to 2 inches or is it a 2.25 necking down to 1.75 or whatever.

This thread is supposed to be about where this guy can purchase a licp. Questions about the FG licp, IMO, have been answered graciously by Jimmy from FG. No one here is refuting that the AMS pipe is a quality piece. The FG licp was thought up to offer a cheaper alternative to it. I would understand if constructive criticism was offered, but all I see is negative comments.

If you don't like the part and are not interested, don't buy it. Simple as that. Please don't turn this into a "this part is better than than one" thread. When I first approached Jimmy about a cheap licp he agreed and I thought that people here would be interested as well, I guess I should've known that this is the internet and people will argue about anything.

Oh well, good luck to all that are looking for a licp. All I can say is that I like my FG pipe.

Intercooler hoses coming off are no fun. Use t-bolt clamps, they should of came from the factory with them.

Sorry bro, I didn't see your post on the last page ... that's what I get for posting after spending 8 hours on the track (e.g. making myself look like an idiot for asking about something that's already been posted ).

Steel vs. aluminum certainly explains the price difference. Thanks.

Another option is Turbohoses.com.

http://www.turbohoses.com/evo_viii.htm

Not the cheapest but they make good products.
