Evo IV my favorite
Not having had the pleasure of driving any Lancer EVO, I am forced to make a decision based on hearsay and styling. I think any EVO would be a hoot to drive so I'm going to go with the IV for styling reasons. It looks like a U.S. spec Mirage with a taller rear spoiler, an agressive front bumper and a couple holes in the hood. But it goes like a huricane! The fender flares on the V, VI, and VI.5 look too cobbled together in my opinion, especially at the rear. With their bigger wheels and huge brakes most of the "stealthiness" is lost. You aren't going to surprise anyone in a stop-light derby with one of them.
I'll take my EVO IV "Mustang Crusher" with the low-rise spoiler off an LS mirage coupe, please

I would want to see whether it's faster or not. The 7 has posted quicker laptimes than the 6, BUT it also has very radical standard tires (Yokohama AE...) compared to the standard Bridgestone SO-1s which the 6 did the laptimes with.... The 7 probably also gaines through ACD but also looses because of extra weight. On the Ring it was 11 seconds faster than the 6 or something like that, so with the same tires it will be equal or the 6 will be a little faster is my guess.
mk,
good point about the tyres. if they really did use the S01 for the ring test then that would explain why the e7 is quicker, coz otherwise I can't really see why the e7 should be quicker as the slight extra torque and stiffer chassis is offset by the 100kg or so extra fattiness.
e7 still a good motor tho'.

Just read the evo vII pda from
In it it says that the fmic is thicker than the vI and the transmission was beefed up over the VI to cope with the increased torque. Im not making this up its straight from mitsubishi's mouth not mine.

Evo 6.5 and 7? Forget about it! The 6 RS(-2)is the real one
Why do you think we remove the ACD and AYC from the Evo 7 racing car (VLN/24h Nürburgring)? Heavy! They work too slowly! And are not reliable enough!
The 7 RS (Andre
) could be a good compromise, especially if you have to go to Jubbega. Do need special ECU.
The 6.5 has a nice front spoiler though. But the high-response turbo (T/M GSR) is too small and the seats dont offer enough support.
So, the Evo 6 RS with T/M spoiler is the way to go for me
