The 3g Eclipse GT's turning radius is 40'. Definitely more than the Evo.

It's funny you mentioned the turning radius of the Mustang! I had the 88 Mustang GT and the turning sucks ***! I noticed it on the Evo as well when I try doing a U-Turn and scratched the bottom corner of the right front bumper on the sidewalk!
Had to go to a paint shop to get silver paint and spray can to do a repair in my dark garage. $200+. Of course this was before I know there's this aftermarket spoiler called the Do-Luck Lip

i like the clutch drop idea...but i was wondering is peeling out in a AWD car pretty bad..like i know it's bad in the first place..but isnt it worse for an AWD? can someone verify that
As well as the wide tire issue,It probably has something to do with the slippage in the transfer case too. when you are turning is when all the tires are turning at different rpms. That could really have that viscous coupling wondering what is should be doing (for us pre '05's). Of course it would be worse at higher speeds. Parking lot navigation is probably the times when the transfer case is doing alot of work. Anyone agree?
Its better to do this at low speed and with larger turns anyway as it saves on tires.
I'd rather save my tires for running around on the streets and highway ramps, rather than wear the hell out of them everytime I go food shopping.

Turning radius really has nothing to do with the VCU, it has a fairly low lockup ratio and will allow a reasonable amount of slip before it starts to bind. You can see that the 05's have the same turning radius if you look around. It has to do with the wide tires and transverse engine layout. Nothing you can really do about those.
