Car dillemma

Im in a major dillemma guys, i want an evo so so bad, ive been following the evo religiously since i got my license in 1999, and ive been saving up money for a car, preferrably an evo whenever i had the chance, i have 13 grand saved up, and im sure i can get a used evo for around 22 grand, but i need a car now so unfortunately an evo is out of the question, i dont have plan b, which is what alot of kids my age have which is have mommy and daddy buy me a car, thats not a possibility for me, i have to do it all on my own, but anyway, with 13 grand, id still love to have a car that i can modify and have fun with, so i was wondering, since most people on this board are very knowledgeable in the tuner world, what in your guys opinions should i look for with 13 grand? I have dsms in mind, supras, i doubt i can find a MKIV for 13 grand, anything thats stock turbo that requires minimal modification to get fast, preferabbly model year 1994 and up, any suggestions?

2g awd dsm... its a natural progression from that to an evo. You'll be familiar with the engine and mods.

'94 1g AWD DSM. You can get one for very little and mod it cheaply into the 12s, then still have a lot of money left over to keep saving for an Evo (or something else) down the road. It's probably better that you don't spend all of your 13k, because anything you get that is old and that will be modded is going to have a much higher chance of breaking and being unreliable, which will be a big pain in the *** in extra bills as well as downtime. I don't want to see you blow your hard-earned (and saved) money on something that breaks down all the time.

Are you looking to not have a payment at all? If you found an Evo for $22k and you walked in with your $13k, you'd only have $9k to finance. Financed at 6% for 3 years, you're looking at around $275 a month. Financed at the same rate for 5 years drops the payment to around $175.

i have to pay for tuition, food, rent, phone bill, utilities, etc while going to school, i cant finance a car, i actually have 9k, and i know i can buy a 13k car with payments, so a 22k car is def out of the question, i was also lookin at the p1 impreza, i know, i hate scooby too, but its the least obnoxious lookin of the scoobies, i only plan on modding to 300hp if i can afford it anyway, the main concern of mine with that car is i dont trust the aluminum block, and i feel like id be selling out, im a diehard mitsu fan, but i cant mod a dsm bc it has too many miles, i can get a p1 impreza (2.5 RS) with decent miles on it though, im still taking the dsms into consideration, but right now, i have it between the 2.5 rs, gti, and whatever else you guys are recommending, i need as many opinions as possible, so the more the better, thank you guys in advance for being very responsive

Save the money and buy a cheap daily driver. You start modding a car and it turns into a money pit. Bite the bullet and buy a cheap daily driver and save toward buying a rental property instead. I don't regret buying a vette when I was younger and I pity anyone who loses sleep at night thinking "gee, I should have bought that expensive car when I was 25". It's just a car and if a car is going to make or break your life for you, that's pretty sad. I saved my money while friends spend thousands on cars. Now, they're living paycheck to paycheck and I have a second income.
