It is functional, if only marginal.
At least in theory it could really be a benefit under certain conditions.
Not all geographic areas will benefit the same obviously since it is operating on the evaporation of the fluid in the container.
i don't know what the factory gives you, but i believe regular windshield fluid (that has a bit of methanol in it) would work good.
dip your hand in room temperature water, then start fanning it around. feels alot colder than the other dry hand when you fan it.
Hehe, now try Isopropyl Alcohol... brrr

I tested it in August of 03 when I dyno'd my car for the first time. I think the sprayer gave me like 9 HP... of course it was 98 degrees out with 110% humidity (OK well it FELT like 110% humidity) So it does work, but it is a marginal power boost... I'll see if I can find the Dyno Sheets and post them...

You could probably make one yourself... Sport Compact Car had an article on how to make one yourself for like $12 in parts from a hardware store... I'll look for the article.

Nice. I appreciate the effort. It'll make for a nice weekend project.

yeah, When I last dynoed I sat in the car and held down the button. Who knows if it made a difference, because the Mustang Dyno I was on varied by like 10hp between 4 runs... I often leave it on auto on hot days, but the tank never seems to deplete...

The temps here in N Ca get into the 110s. I have only smelled the coolant from the sprayer one time. I was drivng fast up a steep three mile grade n 100+ temps. If I had to guess I would say it is only a mild safety feature at best. If you never have to add fluid to the tank that tells you how much you need it. I have run 50/50 water alcohol with dry ice, washer fluid, and plain water. It seems like just a waste of space. You can only carrry a gallon of water so even if you did get 10HP from it how much could you really use it in manual mode. It empties in less than two minutes (try two 60 second runs). Mitsu should have given us a better BOV or decent sound system speakers instead.

I forget mine's even there. As far as the auto-mode, how is that supposed to work? Does it spray @ WOT only?

Overall, I think it's useless. I think I'll bend the nozzles to point out and spray people....

For you guys who have removed it: How much does the entire system weigh? Does anyone know?

I've always wondered that. Or if it's at a certain boost. Who the hell knows

I agree. Does anyone really use the water spray at all? I think I've used it once but it didn't really seem to help. I've heard (and this is only a rumor) that someone actually dynoed with and without the spray and it gave like 2 hp. Anyone else have any experience?
