CV Joint blown?

my problem is i think the CV Joint on the front driverside axle is shot. When i make left turns regardless of acceleration/braking it clicks. it also clicks while going over bump parts of road/parking lots and when im slowing down below 15mph i notice it while braking slowly. any insite on this is much appreciated.

yea the clicking noise is from the cv joint . also look under your car and at the joint and you will be able to see the boot broken. there will also probally be alot of grease on it. hope it helps. my old lady had the same clicking and it was the cv boots.

When the outer cv joint goes bad it clicks while turning. When the inner cv joint goes bad, you usually hear noise from it when accelerating. Like was mentioned, look for grease because a torn boot where the grease leaked out is usually the reason for the joints going up.

I'm having the same problem, I just noticed it today, too. At speeds of < 15mph when going over bumps I can hear super loud clunking noises. I didn't notice it as much while turning, though. If I do have a blown CV joint, I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that my front camber was way out of spec when I got my last alignment (I talked about that in this thread here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=137835).

omg! i think i have the same problem- 45k on the evo... hear a weird sound while making slow left turns.. dont know if i would describe it as a click.. but some kind of noise.

what the hell.. it looks like this is happening to alot of evo's.. is this covered under drivetrain warranty at all?

if not is it costly to get repaired/replaced?

or someone said its easy to do yourself.. how much are replacement parts?

here is the easy way to keep you joints in good health.. DO NOT turn the wheel to lock and gas on it.. this is the biggest failure of cv joints.. The second is people not replacing the dust boot.. if you see a crack replace it.. i have had cars with 200,000 mi and still useing the origanal cv joints.. its just simple maint. to keep them in good health..

Sounds like a balljoint, not the CV shaft.

Agree, I've never replaced an axle. I've replaced boots on five ocassion that I remember (this on three different cars). Every time I'm under for an oil change I check boots.

My outer boots are torn.. I'm going to just replace both CV shafts although they arent making clunking or clicking noises while turning...
