Sport Compact Car July 2005 = Battle of the Project Cars

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/toc/thismonth/
Can you guess which car took first out of this list?

Project 350Z (2003)
Project 300ZX TT (1992)
Project Rally Beater
Project TSX (2004)
Project Miata Gen 1 (1995)
Project Scion TC (2004)
Project Sentra SE-R (1991)
Project STi (2004)
Project SRT-4 (2003)
Project Silvia (1989 Nissan 240SX)
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR (2005)

And which car took last?

the MR, I read this mag about a week ago.

their STI did horribly, although it was set up to run on dry roads...but still it took like 4th or 5th or something. The friggin MR was bone stock and beat all of the project cars, that's sick.

The MR is awesome, but we cannot forget that the race was ran on wet surfaces. So that helped the MR out. Still pretty impressive, for being a stock car. Even if it would have been dry I still think the MR would have done very well, I estimate it would have placed 4th or 5th. Not bad for a stock car vs. modified cars.

well if the MR was modified I'd put it on top -- that was a good read. One of my favorite magazines to read. I saw an issue before that where the group Forcefed boost the new Elise and the MR -- now that was a sick MR.

I could not disagree more, the advans are unsafe in the snow and ice but in the rain they are very good.

Yeah the Advans are really most like an wet race tire, which is still worlds better than most "high performance" tires out there.

I agree that Advans are really good in the wet in warm conditions. They seem to get slick in cooler temps...
