Getting an EVO soon possibly, have some questions.
I have only really noticed my ABS one time and that was when I stood on the pedal to show a find of mine how fast the Evo can decelerate. I belive most pro race car drivers can stop a car faster W/O ABS.
If you want to drag race the Evo you will pay the price in upgrades eilther before or after the stock parts fail.
Stock tires will last between 10k and 20k depending on how hard you drive, If you get 20k you might want to ask your self why you bought an Evo.
It is much like the old saying "If you have to ask how much it costs, you probably can't afford it."

Hmm, yeah it's a tough decision whether to go RS or normal 8.
I like the reduced weight savings, unpainted door handles, no wing (a dealership near me has a white one, so the door handles contrast the car nicely), gauges. The only reason i wouldn't get it is the no ABS thing. Still cant decide if it could ever turn out to be a problem or not....

Do you need it? Nope, weather permitting. Just be carefull and look ahead. People have been driving without ABS for many years. It's like airbags, nice to have when you need it, but you will probably never/rarely use it(daily driving). But when you do need it, it helps. Sometimes alot. Make the risk assesment based on your skills. FYI, Most motorcylces (less BMW) don't have ABS.

We'll i've never driven without it, wouldn't know the braking techniques needed to use non-abs brakes effectively.
I can think of a few times i've had some moron pull out in front of me, me not able to get over and them not accelerating at a normal pace forcing me to SLAM my brakes on.
Opinions seem to be conflicting on whether or not it's better to have ABS in the snow or rain or not. I think perhaps i should just go with a normal VIII and not have to worry about it, or installing power windows+locks.
You know... My first reply didn't help that much.
Here is a thought... If you are able to keep both hands on the wheel 95% of the time then you probably won't need ABS. But if you do other things while driving like phone, drink, sex, whatever.... ABS is probably a good idea. Keeping both hands on the wheel has saved my *** many, many more times than ABS. Worth a thought anyway.
Some abs systems are different also. Not sure how fast the EVO cycles but my F150 ABS suxs major compared to my S2000. Night and day. Almost not worth it in the truck. From what I remember the ABS in the EVO is pretty damn fast. S2000 fast? Maybe, but definately faster than a F150 or Camry or any other "for the masses" car. I think the first ABS on the older 80s C4 corvettes cycled at 4 times a second. I think the S2000 does 30-40 cycles a second now. EVO is probably close, if not better.
I would choose ABS and Power windows I think. IMHO and I have had a few non-abs cars.
