A guy thats in the military and is in Iraq wants to swap his power windows and locks for my RS hand crank windows and my manual locks. But he only wants to do it if the weight savings are really worth the trouble. When he told me this it got me curious as to what those weight savings would be. If anybody on here has actually weighed the parts involved or has a pretty accurate number of how much it is please post it. Thanks

well just do a rough estimate urself, do the weight of a stock rs vs the weight of a regular gsr or sumthing, then add what the gsr has over the rs, and it should leave u with like 100 lbs or sumthing.

 

dont forget the RS has no ABS and no stereo, no panels in the trunk, no wing, no hid's, no center armrest. So there is alot to factor in, i was just asking if maybe somebody knew of how much it would all weigh. Nowhere in my first post did i ask for any sarcasm. If you dont have a educated guess, excuse me a guess than dont post a response

 

You might get 30lbs out of all the window motors and the door lock assemblies

I did factory power door locks in my GF's RS and it was cake

 

Thank you for the info. How long did it take you to do the swap? The other guy is the one who approached me about doing the swap, so i was shocked that someone would want the no power stuff. Not having power windows and locks doesnt bother me one bit. And again thank you, i've been a member a little over a year and the reason i dont post is because of the way people respond to questions. Its refreshing to know that some guys on here actually have respect for others and what they have to say.

 

i have an RS and i read the weight difference between the two cars is 235 to 250 lbs i believe.
