actually hitting a stationary object is considered your fault. At least in california that is how it works. who's to say that you didn't just hit somebody, and then filed a complaint saying you hit something on the road (the claim is almost treated as uninsured motoroist). . . . you rates will most likely go up from hitting the stationary object.
