I think that's pathetic how they have a rather large forum section dedicated to how they aparently raced and beat other cars. Combine this with the fact that they have no way to prove thier stories, they still receive praise apon praise. Looks to me like a bunch of guys sitting around strokeing eachothers ego.

I guess that's why we don't have a Kill forum anymore. It's just a bunch of story with no way proving them true or otherwise.

I wouldn't say they are stroking their egos. They are just stroking each others ignorance. For one, the way the one guy said about the car and driver mag "test" on th evo 8. 0-60 in 5.4 sec. He neglected to read or tell anyone that it was an estimated time. So was the 1/4 mile. Another thing is I love how when you get 2 dedicated fans of two different cars like the evo and the sti. The sti owner for instance will say about the evo 0-60 in 5.4 sec. And then turn around and say the sti is 0-60 in 4.3 sec. They take the extreme worse time of the evo and possibly(not likely at all) the best time of the sti. This is so pointless. Neither car has really been tested yet, in ideal conditions. Also, why is everyone flocking to the sti. I have seen it, with my own eyes....that car in my opinion is not really attractive at all. It has that boy racer look to it....even more so in that ugly blue color. Also welcome to the new age, that style of wing as been out for a few years now. No....I am not saying a big wing in general, but the style and what it is made out of....in other words the technology behind it. Also, in the BMW forum they were rippin on the tailights. Come on people find something real to rip on. That is like rippin on the seat adjustment knob. Sorry this is all over the place...But I am getting fed up with the ignorance and the egos these subaru people have and I am not done ranting yet! They must remember that the suby is falling behind a bit in the WRC also.....time to pull a mitsu suby and make a hatch!

The sti is roughly 30 hp and roughly 25 ft lbs more powerful. Big deal! Outside of that it has a DCCD...big woop! The user for the most part will not use that, and it is just more that can break in the end...not to mention higher possible maint. costs. Yes, it does have a 6 speed...which is nice. But there is really no need for that on the street, gives you higher top end and a little better milage....again....big woop! The sti has nothing really more than the evo has. Outside of higher costs to buy and maintain the friggin thing. Just my 2 pissed off cents.

horsepower

i forgot where but i read that the us has hp limitations of 135.5hp/liter hence 271hp 2.0l this is why subaru went up to 2.5 just to say they have 300hp but the evo is understated kinda like japanese regulations all cars must be below 280hp so most of them quote 276 eventhough they are putting closer or ever 300hp.

There is no such limitation of hp/liter. However, the Japanese car companies do pratice the 280hp maximum for all production models (tuner version OR special version need not apply). The reason for the 2.5L EJ engine is mostly like to meet US smog requirement. If the 2.5L engine is that good, they would be using it on the JDM version as well

Yeah, lots of forums talk smack on the EVO.....even DSMTalk has a bunch of guys who would rather have their 1990 Talon AWD with 28K in mods instead of a NEW CAR with the same relative engine.

I've had the same DSM for 5 years now....it's time for a change.
