How much variation are we talking when you say up and down? FWIW, on my old hybrid civic hatch that I built, oil pressure once warm at idle was 25psi and climed to 75psi once at WOT, there was a check valve at 75psi and peak oil pressure remained the same from 4k rpms to redline or something of the sort.

it will flucuate, but no more than a couple pounds.. same as you will have more pressure when the car is cold than hot..

That's normal. Keep in mind any loading like electric fan or power steering pump will affect the rpm a bit, then transfer to little up and down on oil pressure.
