question about installing a tape deck...

well i want to install a tape deck so i can listen to my iriver through audio converter...so i was thinking about installing it on that weird space between shifter and the knobs for airconditioning...u know, the small rectangular box-esque area that doesn't seem to serve any purpose...would a tape deck fit there?

if you must, just get a cheap cd player with an aux jack in the front, rather than degrading the signal that much. best buy has one for under 100 bucks
