Yea depending on the dealer I guess but yea your best bet is definately checking for road kill then striping the trunk if not the yea your dash. Oh and watch the vents might just be like the pacer and it got caught up there and died

Just to shed a little scientific hoo-hah to this issue. On Mythbusters they took an old Corvette, put two pig carcasses in it, sealed it up, and left it in the sun for a few days in a container. Needless to say, the smell never got out and they only thing they could do was part out the engine.

Stripping the car is really the only way to make sure you find the source. While everything is out you can disinfect it as well. Sucks. I hope you find the problem and the smell goes away.

Oh man, I've cleaned out peoples cars when I worked at a Toyota dealership. I've found rats nests, mice (alive) and dead ones. They like to get inside the dashboard, vents, spare tire well, and under the back seats (sometimes inside). If they are still alive (most likely), they usually go in and out of the car when you open the garage door to scare them out. They usually go thru the little drain plug holes that are supposed to be sealed with plastic plugs when the dealership gets them off the trucks. (ask them at the stealership where the locations are at) Or they might come in thru the air vents, so check for holes that lead into the engine compartment. Put a mouse trap under the gas pedal to catch them.. or the new sticky tape they have for mice. Its fun to catch them alive so then you can get revenge on them by sticking a firecracker in their mouth. LOL. But other than that, just start tearing apart the interior before they tear it apart making nests. All the cars I took apart, the mice and rats actually ate all the foam backing off the seats and carpet to make their next. Oh, and WEAR GLOVES!!! They carry some nasty diseases and smells.
My moms friend had rats in her intake tube and intake manifold before.. LOL, check that out too. (this was in detroit though where the river rats grow about 1.5 feet long) They can chew thru 1'' concrete or metal in less than a day.
