When I replaced mine at Ultimate Electronics in my 2nd Gen Eclipse (with the factory Infinity System) they did not charge me extra. It took them awhile though, had to pull the seat out and everything.

By the way, if you wanna sell you factory head unit after you take it out, let me know.

Dude -- don't waste your money and have some place rape you to install something that is rather simple. Go to the store...buy the Lancer harness (approx 16 bucks) and install the unit yourself. PLEASE..don't pay someone 50 bucks to do it...

I just did mine last weekend -- it's a fun learning experience...the hard part was running all the wire for the new speakers I put in....but well worth it!!!

Most places have free installation if you buy a deck from them over a certian price.... all you pay for is the harness.

Correct. Anything over $99 bucks comes with free installation, but they have a disclaimer that says if it takes longer than usual (which could be the case because of the extra wiring for the oem amplifier) then they will charge you.

I'd just be worried about amp control.I havent looked at the inputs on the stock amp.. but if the new headunit isnt compatable, it is gonna be tough making it work..

(Volume contol may not work)

I have a SSL package as well. If you are just replacing the head unit and keeping the existing amps and speakers...the longest part is taking apart your dash to get to the existing HU. The actually installation will prolly take you 30 minutes...nothing too long at all.

And don't let them tell you there is extra wiring either!!! That's BS especially if they use the harness.

The harness that you need is usually a special order item. Soundgate sells the adapter, it is a mitsamp interface. This will simply plug into the oem harness that is pluged into the radio. Once you have this amp integration piece, the install will be simple enough.

I didn't have to special order mine -- found out that the Lancer harness worked with my car. Connections are same but hardware is different...
