Im not saying we are Top Fuel Cars but no one can say a tire you can put on your car makes full traction all the way. Its just physics...or whatever that stuff is.

I have personally done 165mph and was a little nervous but I feel that my EVO had a little more room for more speed.

[QUOTE=HMSevo8]I agree. But, to chime in, I've done top speed pulls at VIR and got certified about 181, 182, [QUOTE]

181 at VIR?!
Back straight?
Yeah, riiiiight......
What were you in, the Audi R8?
If you're talking about the Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Va, you were dreaming.
If you're talking about something else, you have my sincere apologies. If you are indeed talking about VIR, and you're in an Evo, you're dreaming.

On wet roads I got up to about 145 @ around 5-6K maybe. I don't really understand how speedometers could be as inaccurate as you guys are saying... So lets say I'm cruising at 70mph in a 70mph zone. My speedo might be wrong and I could get pulled over for going too fast without knowing it? Or are you guys just saying that speeds in excess of 100mph or so are inaccurate?

Called Out!

Where's Astro evo? Did he go through with his 200mph, verified on GPS mission? i don't know if he committed and lowered his final drive ratio or gave up.

Its all about downforce. You need to have it to stick. and GPS IS the only way too truly know your exact speed when it is high. over the 120's or so.

I found in 5th gear I hit a rev limiter and recorded 6908 rpms on my safc2 so i figure the rev limiter kicked in at 6900 in 5th , which was 160 on the speedo but most likely was 157 or so which would put it up there with what a lot of magazines have posted,.

Without the limiter, aerodynamics pending, if i did my math right the car should theoretically hit 171, someone might want to double check that, . That of course is with the 5 speed trans, not sure of the 6 speed.

OK, so you weren't exactly a physics major, no biggie The friction coefficient between a tire and the surface it is on is zero....unless it is loosing traction which will never occur in our cars at top speed unless it is in a slide. This will not be power induced at those speeds.

Conversely, some of the only cars in the world that CAN spin their tires at full speed are top fuel cars. (ever seen them go up in smoke 2/3rds of the way down the track?)

Exactly, even if you're speedo is wrong you can still get a ticket. You cannot clain ignorance to the law and say that you thought you were going the speed limit.

That would be sweet though!

Yep, they will get you no matter what! That is why I enjoy my trusty radar detector. I have one per car and they are worth every costly penny.
