Those are some nice launches. I build about 6lbs of boost with the stock 5000 limiter. Another 4 lbs sure would help out the 60'.

Wow, that's pretty sweet. I am getting that on my EMS, at least now I know what it does.

I've always wondered about the clutch too. that would feel weird to me not having my foot on the gas at the same time.

I thought your foot is on the gas while this is happening, it just has a rev limiter?

I believe you slip the clutch like a normal launch. Clutch dumping is NEVER a good idea with an Evo, hehee. The advantage of launch control is you don't have to play with the throttle and watch your revs at the start - it holds it at a certain RPMs for you, and when you launch the car it's already at full throttle for you. The car launches MUCH harder because you don't have that momentary gap of you feathering the throttle and then mashing the gas to go WOT, but is about the same as a regular launch as far as wear and tear goes, maybe worse on your tires cause you'll get a nice 4 wheel squeal if they're not sticky enough. On a stock clutch this is a definite no-no, hehe.

I already have Ecutek on my car, can't wait to get this.

BTW - I could be wrong about all this, but that was just what I understood launch control as, hehe.

well, it was my car and I was driving it... I have an ACT 6 puck with act pressure plate and stock flywheel. The clutch might be wearing out slowly, but its cool. The LAunch Control wont be as hard on you TC as you think. The only issue I have is that my TC is about to break anyways. but so far so good. after the flash doug got me about 326 HP 314 TQ @ 21.5 PSI. Its awesome, alot better than b4. Anyways... any questions about the Flash, ask Doug, about the car... ask him too, or me.

I had a stutter box/launch control set up on my Talon AWD for about 5 years and never had a problem with my transmission or transfercase. The Talon's transmission and transfercase seemed to be weaker than the Evo's. I would just let out my clutch normally and just go! The thing I liked the best about the launch control is that I was able to leave at a lower RPM, due to the fact that I was building up boost at the line. I would always have 1.7 60 foot times with a 4500 RPM launch. I'll just have to wait until the Xede becomes available with it's launch control feature. Meanwhile for the people who have it, enjoy it .

Isn't it, essentially, cheating? I mean, why not just have it operate the gas and shift for you too? A good launch is part of being a good driver.

it is not cheating it is trying to keep your car in one peice. get an evo and launch it. it is intimidating waiting to hear or feel something break. if you dont know dont post.
