Mine squeal all the time with the stock pads. They've been especially bad lately and I know there's plenty of meat still left on them. Maybe the weather we've been having in CO?

I think the problem is not using the fiber shims from the stock pads. The shop that installed my pads didn't use them and my brakes squeal like crazy. I'm pretty used to it now and it doesn't bother me.

I have some rubber anti-squeal shims from EBC I never installed, and they're yours for the asking if you want to try them. Just PM me if you want them.

What do you guys think. Is it the calipers? I searched and I got a bunch of worthless crap or maybe I didnt look right but anyhelp is greatly appreciated.

If you did not break them in properly initially, they will squeal like hell no matter what you do. No matter what you will still get some noise. When you changed the to the new HPS pads, did you use a fine grit sandpaper in a criss cross pattern on the rotor to clean the old brake residue off (this is recommended)? This is what I do when I do Evo brakes for customers and they work fine. Also heat is a major factor on all race like pads, this is normal to hear noise no matter how much it irritates you.

No shims = squeeking. The peeling paint on the calipers mean nothing, I had the dealership replace them and now one pad squeeks because they forgot a shim.

Use the shims.. I used both sets on my project ms ns pads. I still get squeeling sometimes at low speeds but not near as bad w/o the shims.

Mine scream too hawk hps front and rear. I have a friend who used EBC, Hawk and Project MU and they all squeal too. Most brake companies as far as i know tell u not to re-use the shims. Mine dont do it too bad unless i get them hot.

Lots of good suggestions here ... however, I really don't mind when mine squeal a bit, but they seem to be more talkative at low speeds. (Project Mu NS)

The sound is like one step off from hearing a good semi spring rotor under hard breaking at the track ... that hissing followed by the low whine is music to the ears!

Around $100.00 for a set of fronts is an extremely good deal ... I'm glad the aftermarket on the EVO is here.

Keep smiling and take the EVO in stride dood.
