I just installed Ferodo DS-2500s front and rear on Monday. I used a ton of synthetic grease and reused both factory shims. I haven't heard a single sound from my brakes, not even after having smoke pour out of them from the bed-in process. Although I may deal with some squeel eventually, I haven't heard any yet.

No I wasn't. I don't know anyone else in Denver that owns an Evo let alone knowing about cruises and whatnot . Did they still make as much noise a couple days ago when it was cold as hell?

The shims are probably stuck to the old pads.

I have Hawk HPS pads, they squeel sometimes, but not too often. When I put them in I didn't use any grease, and I made sure to re-use the stock shims.

my stock pads were squealing pretty bad, so i got some anti-squeal spray from auto zone and the squeal hasn't come back in over 2 months. make sure you do it right, take the rotor out and clean it well with brake cleaner before paying anti-squeal stuff on it. good luck.

I can't imagine the stock shims being so bad they cannot be reused, unless they were severly abused on a roadcourse. I re-used my shims on my Talon for many years, and those survived two seperate brake fires and were in great shape once cleaned back up.

You cannot put brakes back together with components missing, and then expect everything to be okay.

You have a race car with race quality calipers and almost race pads? Since when did those ever squeal at all!!?!?!?! My brakes have squealed from day one no matter what pads I'm using, the issue is the temp of the pads themselves, once any of my pads get hot enough, they stop squealing for awhile (till they cool back down). Try some Ferodo DS2500s, that's what I'm using now and the squeal is a good deal quieter, if not that then you could try aftermarket rotors, then if that doesn't help enough for you, perhaps buying some Civic calipers, rotors, and pads.

i use hawks and i never ever get squealing.

well now i have slotted rotors, but i never got squealing with the stock rotors and my hawk pads. I got some squealing with my stock pads though.

When i installed the hawk HPS pads i slathered all the shims and pins in high temp antisieze.

Hawk HPS I presume?

Yeah they squeal like hell. They are also missing an extra shim, just not part of the pad. They work great though IMO... just a tad on the loud side.

You get used to it.

Uhhhhhhhh I can tell you used to be a mechanic because you did the job wrong and can't figure out why it's not working right

J/K dude you NEED to at least run the metal shims, and if your new pads don't have shims on the backing plates, you need to peel the organic thin shims off the back of your stock pads and re-use them as well. And you don't use GREASE dude, you use copper anti-seize compound like what comes stock on the things, and put it on every surface that touches another surface, on the pistons (not on the face of the pad obviously but on the back...)

Do this and 99% of your squeeling will be gone.

Good advice. A nice clean caliper helps too.

Regardless you need to use copper anti-seize combound & not the CRC crap.
