Reliability: Q & A

I currently own a 1998 Eclipse GS-X and thought that it was reliable but had issues later in its life. I plan on selling my car and getting a 2006 evolution mr but was curious about its reliability. I think that the Evolution fits my driving style perfectly, but has anyone on this site had problems with their cars stock? Do you think that the car will break in 3 years time? Any information would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

There is at least one guy with 100K on his stock Evo and very few if any problems. As many have said, if you don't beat the #@!* out of it on a regular basis, and maintain it according to schedule, it should last a long time.

you have a 2G and you thought it was reliable?!?!?! When I had my 97 GSX a few years back, I took real good care of it and it still sh*tted on me...

If you want reliable car, get a Toyota or Honda... Other than that, I believe the EVO is a significant improvement over the GSX though...

people for the most part who have probs with there car don't know how to drive or abuse their car far more than the average motorist.

If you drive it like a race car you will need to maintain it like a race car.

I think he is saying that the car suits him. He already has a mitsu that is a turbo AWD so naturally if he is going to upgrade the EVO is the logical choice.

The car is very strong stock. It should be able to take the abuse if you drive it correctly.

Thanks for the information. So it appears that the Evo 8 MR is a reliable car.
