It's off an S2000. I actually had it on my Corrado, and seeing as generally one FUBA antenna has the same thread as another, I just swapped 'em - so now the Corrado has a brand new Evo antenna and the Evo has the S2000 one from the Corrado.

I'll be getting another S2000 antenna for the Corrado cos I don't like those tall springy ones with the spiral wire wrapped around them.

The radio reception is actually slightly better as well (in both cars), oddly.

The only thing is that the S2000 antenna isn't quite as flush to the Evo base as I would like (slightly different contours), so I think I'll hollow a little of the rubber out of the antenna base.

You can get 'em, by the way, from:
http://www.handa-accessories.com

For the princely sum of $16. That's where I got mine anyway. Or you can go to a dealer, I think they charge like $25 or something.

It's 1:00 am, so what. I aint gonna be able to sleep when I get mine. Hell, I'm gonna be sleeping in it if I do get an sleep at all.
Uh huh... yeah nice pics stvbreal

Such animosity. Incidentally, the main reason I didn't take it somewhere lighter is that it does a lot of beeping when you arm and disarm it, and it was parked right under my 2-yr old's bedroom window.

Luckily, you can program it not to beep so much. I'll be doing that soon cos it's driving me crazy.

1. Can't wait to experience the power for myself.
2. Good, I will be taking some long trips.
3. Does it feel like a go-cart you can just throw into a turn?
4. Is it possible to feel how extra synchronizers help the shifting?
5. I like communication through the wheel.
6. Good
7. Once you go HID, you don't go back.
8. I could do without this feature.
9. Good to know, not that I was worried too much

Did the dealer make you sit through a "training course" on the Evo?
Did they sell you a Pit-Pass?
How many people have you caught staring?
3. Yes, absolutely, that's the feeling.
4. Actually it is. It shifts very nicely and you can kinda 'feel' the extra synchros now and again. Or it could be my imagination.
5. Me too.
7. The HIDs are real nice - the adjustment wheel is cool too
8. It's okay apart from the turbo timer thing. I do have a rugrat so it saves me from remembering to lock the doors I suppose (I'm used to a 2-dr)

No training course (apart from the stereo and a/c )

They didn't have a price on the Pit Pass and frankly not much was made of it at all. I was all ready to explain how I can change my own oil etc, but no need.

A few staring (at the wheels especially.. must be the red calipers). A very cool guy in a silver WRX stopped to chat at the gas station, he was enthusiastic about the car, asked me some questions and stuff. But we were holding up traffic and I was late for an appointment so I couldn't chat for long (shame really). See, Scoobies and Mitsus can get along (cue "Why can't we be friends?" playing in background ).

But mostly people pretend not to be interested, cos this is SoCal and you have to be driving the Oscar Meyer wienermobile to get a great deal of attention

I am breaking it in according to the manual. Taking it very gently, keeping the revs down, not driving like an ***. But this is a hard car to drive slow, especially if you have to watch the revs all the time and jam through the gears to avoid hitting 5k. You definitely get the best results by keeping the turbo spinning, obviously - if you let the revs drop too much (below 2000-1750) between gears it can bog a little.

Any more questions, fire away.

rollo, how do you like this car so far as a daily driver, is it too rough or just right?

I like it. It's just right. But then I don't care for big luxury cars with suspension that 'soaks up' the bumps - I wanna feel every bump But it's not jarring, it won't knock your teeth out. The steering is perfect - I had my worries when I read the Mitsu sales training thing: "driver must hold on tight to wheel due to extra quick steering" but basically it means, don't drive with your knees whilst eating a burrito You don't have to 'hold tight' at all.

It's not a quiet car - you can definitely hear the drivetrain, and of course the engine, but I find it a perfectly acceptable noise level for speedy freeway travel.

I guess it comes down to personal tolerance and what you're want in a car. I couldn't care less if it has dual-zone climate control, cruise control, electric heated seats, leather, etc etc. Hell, if it has working A/C and keyless entry it practically is a luxury car to me

Plus it has a ton of legroom, enough safety equipment that I feel happy transporting my son around (and I have very high standards) and is very comfortable to sit in. I like the dead pedal as well, I've never had a manual with one of those.

What I know I would want that it doesn't have is flexibility as far as transporting stuff from Home Depot type places (you know, furniture, pipes, 8ft mouldings and stuff). But I still have the Corrado which has an enormous carrying capacity for a car of its size, so it's no problem.

In summary (sorry, I tend to go on and on) yeah, for me it's perfect, but I don't think that would be the case for most people. But the car isn't targeted at 'most people', right

Its a non-moving pedal to the left of the clutch to rest your foot on when you aren't shifiting gears.

Update on point 8:
The "lock/unlock on ignition" is actually a function of the aftermarket alarm system (which is very well integrated into the factory keyless entry/immobiliser). I don't think that the factory system has it. But even so, you can switch this behaviour on and off (and other stuff as well) within the alarm system's configuration mode. So it's all good

The alarm is made by KARR in case anyone wonders (like KITT's evil twin, for those Knightrider fans among you ). It has a very bright blue LED under the dash. Pretty cool.
