Cool I have mine (!!)

This has been an incredibly long day, and given that it's almost 1am I don't have a lot of time or energy to take a ton of pics. But I did go out onto my driveway and take a picture of myself with the Evo using the infra-red thing on my camcorder.

Evobservations:
1. Even keeping it well within sane limits, the power on tap is obvious and even a small touch on the loud pedal gives you a heck of a surge forward
2. It's actually pretty damn comfortable
3. The steering is very quick
4. The gearbox feels great - short throw, very positive
5. You can feel every line and crack in the road, but in a good way not a bone-jarring way
6. The trunk lid feels very light for some reason (?)
7. The lights are really good
8. It locks the doors for you when you start the car and unlocks them when you turn the engine off (pretty nifty)
******* update on point 8 below ******
9. Visibility is good - the rear wing doesn't get in the way at all

General comments:
1. I was the first one to buy an Evo from the dealership, and I felt like a celebrity! All the salesguys gathering round the car, people I'd never seen saying stuff like "nice car" and "congratulations!" Pretty funny.
2. The credit app had stuff like 'addresses and phone # of two friends you have known for longer than one year' which I had to call round and get, cos it's hardly like I have people's addresses memorized. So you might want to have stuff like that handy.
3. On the way home I _almost_ got sideswiped by a dude in a very large Chevy Suburban or something. So very close, he wasn't even looking as he changed lanes. Into the lane I was already in. DOH. The quick steering helped there

There was some other stuff but I don't remember it now as my head is crammed with a zillion things.

******* update on point 8:
The "lock/unlock on ignition" is actually a function of the aftermarket alarm system (which is very well integrated into the factory keyless entry/immobiliser). I don't think that the factory system has it. But even so, you can switch this behaviour on and off (and other stuff as well) within the alarm system's configuration mode. So it's all good
*******

Here's the pic. I don't look quite this odd in real life (close though).

No, I paid MSRP. But I'm a special case (I happen to be married to someone who knows the right people and asked at the right time). I do know that even while I was buying the car, at least one other person offered to buy it. They really are hot right now.

Can't you tell?

It's red, no sunroof, high spoiler (of course).

I'll take some more pics tomorrow evening, cos even Evo owners still have to go to work. Long lunch tomorrow, I'm thinking. How many miles can you drive in 90 minutes

The whole car is like that. Didn't you notice the doors and hood super light as well? They reduced weight on the body but reinforced the structure.

Ahhh noooooo. It's a neat feature but after having it in my Supra I wish it wasn't on the Evo. Reason being is the turbo charger. With that auto lock-unlock feature you can't use a turbo timer. Unless you get an alarm that has a delay. When you set the turbo timer to say 2 min. once it shuts down the doors unlock. I always had to wait for the timer to stop which pretty much made it pointless to have a turbo timer. Damn hopefully there's a way around this.

doors lock when you start the car ????? What the hell is the evo a mini-van ?

I can't say I like this feature on any car... unelss you have rug rats I see no need for it.

Oh well .. I'm sure there is a wire to cut or something to disconnect
