71 on 25
I would seriously consider hiring a lawyer. Trying to fight this by yourself you would just get the book thrown at you. On the other hand, going almost 50 mph over in a 25 mph zone is pretty harsh...perhaps the lawyer could get this reduced to traffic school and a smaller fine -- depending on your previous record. It can't hurt to ask.
What was the point of going so fast in a 25mph zone. No kidding the cop was a dick, did you expect him to shake your hand. i woudl def get a lawyer. maybe he can get something dropped. lessen the amount of point given and maybe the fine too.
Why on earth would you go that much over the speed limit, especially in a 25 MPH zone (usually a residential area), if I were you I would definitely hire a lawyer and be prepared for whatever they give you, im surprised you still have the car to be honest. Sorry to sound like a d1ck but you dug your own grave in my opinion.
I know the whole situation sucks but if I was a cop and pulled someone over for going that fast I would be a dick too. You're lucky you didn't get thrown in jail for reckless driving. Any way you look at it you're going to have to pay some serious coin to keep this off the record. Good luck and definately get an attorney, the judge will have more respect for you if you show up with legal representation.

Obviously, a court date has been set. Do I need a lawyer?
I have been receiving so much mail from lawyers who wants my money. Many lawyers have mentioned that I can get as much penalty as: license suspension, jail time, hefty fine, community service, etc.
I looked up the code 39:4-98, which translates to about 5 points on my license.
Has anyone on this board have any experience with this situation? Would a lawyer really help me out or just take my money? Should I just do with the on site prosecutor/lawyer when I go to my court date? Is going to jail better than suspending your license?
Let me know what your thoughts/advice. I would appreciate any knowledge/tools I can use to lessen my penalty.
Thanks!
Marco

I think you should just tell them all to fu<k off. You have a fast car and should be able to go as fast as you want any time you want. Don't bother going to court, the a$$holes will only want your money and if you don't have enough, they will arrest you. Speed laws are only for old people and fools that can't drive. Stupid d!ck cop, why do they bother people that aren't hurting anyone, they should be out arresting crooks (oh yea that's their bosses) and people that hurt other people.
"LMAO. He was being a dick, heck you are lucky he didn't arrest you for reckless endangerment. It's guys like you that **** me the **** off. In my neighborhood some moron almost killed my neighbor for doing the same thing. He finally got caught and got arrested. At least you will now slow down brfore you hurt someone."...........
"Don't get a lawyer as you deserve everything you get for driving that recklessly and giving other Evo owners a bad rep"
"The cop was a dick? Take a look in the mirror bro. I've done stupid things too, but damn own up to your ****."
= Sorry to **** you off, but just to let you know that I personally do not think that I give EVO owners a bad rep. I for the most part is a very mature driver. The EVO is my daily driver to work and my weekend track car. We all make mistakes and I am guilty for mine, without a doubt. I am man enough to admit my mistakes and that is why I am on this board talking to everyone and accepting everyone's comments. Thank you once again.

So, follow me here....I'm assuming you have a cel phone...
If your bro is SOOOO sick, why did you stop? You bet your a$$ that if one of my family members is having an allergic reaction of that magnitude I'm not stopping. If they are THAT bad I'm gonna take my chances with the law in order to get them the medical attention they require.
I'm calling 911 on my cel and gonna explain what's going on and sort it out at the hospital.
Or, on the front end call 911 and get someone/something that is allowed to run red lights and go 71 in a 25 = AMBULANCE

Reason behind my action:
The reason I was going that fast was because my brother who was very sick at the time was with me and I was rushing to get to the hospital to get him in. He is allergic to shrimp, found out after he ate it. I pulled over as soon as I saw the cop behind me. He did not even put on his lights when I pulled over. I shut the engine off, took my papers out and even gave him my uncle's PBA card. I explained to him my situation, but he did not even take it into consideration. He even threw the PBA card back at me. I only say that the cop was a ***** because I was going about the whole situation professionally, and he wasn't. That's all I have to say for now.

The EVO is an amazing car and I always love driving it. But speeding does put other in danger. The law does suck sometimes, but this is what we have to deal with everyday.
