Syncro Problems? Reverse idler problems? TSB's?
Ok so we all know that there are TSB's out for out cars.
One for the 5th gear syncro
One for the Reverse Idler
Recently I have seen more and more questions and threads about this so i got to thinking. Alot of people are having this problem, some are getting it fixed under warranty, some aren't.
Whether or not you got it warrantied, you should have - I feel this is something that should warranty a recall. That is why I am asking EVERYONE who has experienced this problem to take 5 minutes, go to this website and report it. If we get enough people to do this, we can get some kind of action.

Also i would like to know the following... please post
1) Were you warrantied or not?
2) Is your car modified?
3) Stock or Aftermarket Clutch?
* Maybe we can have a moderator sticky this item

Called my local dealer today about both tsb's and they said its $125 flat rate either way, and if they do find something wrong( which I know is) they will determine if its warranty related. He also said if its not warrantied related, they will bill me for all work. Also said mitsu doesnt like the evo warrantys and that most things arent covered..I got sarcastic and said so basically if my car stops running and im beat I should call you... he said pretty much.

Lol, the $125.00 is a diaonositic charge...they are going to drive your car around the block make the noise, then rip the car apart and tell you it's your fault. Good luck!

Well mine was repaired under warranty (syncro grind) but the clutch was going out so I had Mitsu install a ACT clutch and the grind came back in a few thousand miles and they said they wouldnt fix it, since the clutch caused it to go bad even though I had problems getting it in reverse the day I got it home from the dealership, and I called and notified them of it the same day.
At the time my car had TBE, and Intake and they didnt mind.

Yea, I tried that. Didn't work to well. I am currently fighting with Mitsu. I have spoken to the district rep, i just sent a letter to the regional rep. They are denying my warranty for mods.....can u say small claims court?

If your areas are anything like mine, every EVO warranty clain must be approved by the district rep. So once he denies it at one dealer you are just wasting your time by going to another because their territories are so large.
I even filed a claim with Mitsu directly. If you really want to fight it go for it, but I would recommend going the rout that I did and try to get them to pay half. Or try to get them to do the repair at the warranty labor rate. It cost me right around $500 to have 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 5th syncros replaced.
My 4th to 5th was gone and the funny thing is this is not a gear you dog in any way. Not to mention I have had Synchro mesh in my tranny since 2k and I currently have only 17k after 3 years.

That is why we should all file a complaint. It will force them to fix the problem! Screw them cutting costS! Why should we pay for their mistakes??
