I think every possibility has been covered already, especially by gtr.

Most important things:

Front LSD
ACD
6 speed
Optional Super AYC (if possible in US market)
Optional JDM Recaro Full Bucket Seats
Auto climate control...

So basically everything the JDM model has.

Thanks for listening themothership!

BTW, this one deserves a sticky.

General ideas:

1. Style "make a hatch or something really awesome, light, ridgid and WRC compeditive" Example: pegueot 206 looks good, ford focus doesn't
2. We need to offer a strong inexpensive to manufacture, powerplant. If Ralliart lancer shares the same block as evo maybe lower cost, and add turbo to larger displacement = 350hp or so.
3. We must need to keep cast block, FMIC combo "more hp potential". That's what makes the GT-R a legend. Our setup is superiour to the Subaru. Less lag and etc...
4. Better interior " i personally like it" but we need one that appeals to general public. Perhaps different than regular lancer or somthing people will agree is better than subaru?

Again, need something that kills WRX at that lower 20k market but make the car very modifiable to our "GSR version". Ex. EVO 8 with crank windows. no keyless, A/C optional, 16"wheel smaller brakes, cheap stereo, It could be a very stripped version but call it a RS. Probably just as fast as loaded version with less hp? And could offer Ralliart to upgrade thier 23K car to a 30K GSR with crank windows, cheaper radio, if ya know what i mean

Or heres an ideal.

SRT-4 will become an Lancer correct.

Why not take that engine put it with an outlander 4wd system to create an evo RS. And 30 evo will have the real evo engine?

Here, here on the uglified design of the new lancer..."just say no" Mitsubishi

1) Front LSD
2) ACD
3) 6 speed (only if bulletproof)
4) Cruise Control
5) HVAC controls in lower compartment
6) Stroker version of motor
7) Evo 7 tail lights
8) Shave even more weight (?) --not at the expense of rigidity though. Can always cure weight with hp

Hope you're listening Mothership, especially about the 1st two--which are keeping me from buying an Evo until 2004....

EVO Wishlist:

Since the Evo is a WRC based vehicle it should follow suit.

-- Lighter weight -- Say 3000 lbs

-- Beefier clutch - Claudius has a good point...

-- Rework the Suspension - Just a touch.

-- More Power --- 325 - 350hp would be ideal and would keep the car within limits of economy and power with the use of exotic pieces that would drive costs up.

-- After seeing pics of that "colt" I think body lines like those would appeal...Following gtr's lead the WRC Peugeots 206's looks me like a car that means business. Having an Mitsu. Eclipse myself I can really appreicate the hatch.

-- Interior - You need to rework the intrument cluster. If the EVO is a performance blend then it needs to say so on the dash. I'm sure a swap from another model would help

-- 6spd gearbox maybe with lighter housing to keep weight down.

-- LSD in the Front.. With as much as I'd like the electronics it would be difficult and not cost effective for to try to squeeze it in.

-- keeping the price competitive enough to trounce any nay sayers that is serious about it's new marketplace. For instance Mazda just released the new RX-8 and in it is a unbelieveable amount of new thinking all at a fair price. That's all people want. Maybe make SELECT dealers authorized EVO Sellers this way you can have better control over pricing.

-- Be different and stick with what works. Porsche has tweaked the flat six and has had nothing but success. I think if keeps tinkering with the 4G63 they'll have the same success. Not to mention the cost savings for continued reuse of tooling is always in mind.

On the other hand if you really wanted to wet people's appetite offer the existing EVO without all the goodies as a limited production (1500). In it give them the ability to add various Ralliart pieces like the Cobra R. A fully purpose built car. Straight to the point. Target the USTCC and see how that works. I think it would be ideal to see EVO vs. WRX vs BMW vs Acura etc... It would be another proving gound for and they would see exactly who is really wanting their cars.

For the select few of us (not for the masses) it would be awesome to have a near race version (light weight, big horsepower, etc...). of course the M3 CSL (street / race version) speculation is that it costs about $35k more than a normal one, so I think this is more than likely a pipe dream.

Not too many people want roll up windows and no air conditioning, etc.....

In my opinion this is a moot point about designing your own. The description of the perfect car would be 2500lbs, 350+hp, 3+ year warranty and cost $25k. In reality that would be a $50k car.

Future Evo ideas
1. Option for JDM seats, the US seats are too big.
2. Make the dealer installed dual DIN package available in the US.
3. Two piece brake rotors all around. (Aluminum Bell and cast rotor)
4. Improve the stock clutch and or offer the upcoming AP twin plate
5. Upgrade the MAF sensor from the karman style to a hot film type
6. Upgrade the fateners that secure the trim in the trunk. I t close to impossible to remove the rear plastic part without breaking some of them. Removed for AutoX.
7. ACD and Super AYC and helical front diff from the JDM cars.
--a. Add addition settings to the ACD modes keep the current tarmac/gravel/Snow but add the programs from the RA553831K1 “K1"
--b. Make the bleed cycle and diagnostics available to the user with out the need for the MUT-II
8. Make it lighter
9. 2.2 liter stroker motor standard.
10. Make an RS model available in the US with all the performance options.
--a. No radio, A/C or power windows
--b. No sound deadener
--c. Close ratio transmission
--d. Extra bracing
11. Superduty engine option with stock power but with the internal engine components to start a high power engine program without having to open the it up. Includes:
--a. 2.2 liter stroker motor.
--b. forged internals
--c. ported head
--d. ARP rod bolts and head studs
--e. Good steel head gasket
--f. Uprated fuel pump and wiring
--g. Twin plate clutch and tougher transmission
--h. Light flywheel
12. Go road racing
13. develop a strong after market
--a. Get a Evo to Ground Control so they can develop their Advanced design coil-overs
--b. Get one to Road Race Engineering so Mike can start working on product
--c. Get ACTs or Clutchmaters to make good single plate clutches offer them world wide through Ralliart or Mitsubishi
--d. Get Ohtsu tire & rubber to make the correct size 235/45-17 Falken Azenis sports tire
--e. Start an Evo owner club and hold events
14. Pay the FatF producers not to put the Evo in FatF III, IV or V

A vase attachment on the dashboard. So we can put pretty flowers in it to cheer up the cabin.

I think gtr pointed out everything on my list. Nice job. Main things for me is the front LSD, JDM seats, and what Claudius pointed out about the clutch.

Then wouldn't that be considered the RS version of the evo's?

the RS's came race ready...no stereo,no ac...no creature comforts basically to reduce weight.
