What is the highest octane gas that is safe

Im going to the track and they sell raceing gas. What is the highest octane gas I can use with out killing an Evo VIII.

Not sure what you mean. There is no unsafe octane that I'm aware of that will "kill" an Evo.

Just make sure you don't use LEADED race gas if you have a cat of any kind (stock or HFC). Leaded gas is usually of the 110/112/114/116 variety. If you have a cat, then make sure you only use unleaded race gas. These are usually 100/102/104, but make sure and ask the attendant beforehand. None of these are unsafe for the Evo, but the leaded octanes will eventually foul your o2 sensor if you use it a lot.

I think they sell 106 unleaded for 6$ a gallon, and this will be safe for my evo?

You're not going to see any real benefit to using race gas unless you get you ecu tuned for it.

what the point of running the highest octane you can if you arent tuned for it?? If you just want to run race gas for safety purposes, a few gallons of 100oct mixed with a few gallons of 93oct should be safe enough
