not sure how much trouble you want to go through on the whole cf headliner but i remember reading a while back about a guy who did this along with the interior pillars in cf in his lancer and he had to take out the windshield just to get the headliner out and so on. it looked damn good when it was done but i dont think it would be something i would want to bother with, at least not right now. good luck though.

Basically yeah. I'm no CF/Fiberglass expert though. That's why I found a good installer It was a bit of an experiment when I did it (he'd never worked with CF specifically). Since then, he's done a LOT of CF work though.

As far as what to use, I got my supplies from http://www.uscomposites.com . Check there epoxy section for a good clear coat. I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but 1) I did this 3 years ago and 2) my installer basically said order this that and this, so I did.

Check the epoxy section for what you need for a clear coat resin and the fiber section for your actual carbon fiber cloth. Good luck

edit: one tip, be careful mixing the epoxy based resins w/ the polyester resins. They can react with each other and kill the finish...

yeah, basically, if you want it looking mint, you're gonna have to pull it down/out.

Smooth and contour it to your perfect liking, then layup over it.

Use epoxy stuff, if you mix it with polyester, they will not adhere (to any strength, if at all)

When you mix resin, mix small batches, so it doesn't get warm and go off in your cup/bucket/etc. Also, you probably want to ply over the outside when you're done (not sure what the composite place would call it, i know it as "peel ply"), to give it that finish thats smooth. Then bury it in clear.

Rather involved process to get it out, it sounds, but best of luck, and be sure to post some pics if/when it's done.

nah, it creates a flat, bonding surface.

for lack of a better term, it's a clothlike rolled fabric, similar to wax paper i'd say. Enables you to bond right on the surface. I gotta take some pictures today, i'll try and take one to show you the difference.

ive seen a vw with a cf headliner in my oppinion it didnt look that great i think it would be hard to make it look really even. Also ur headliner will end up being heavier b/ it will have to be fiberglassed to make it stronger and give u a hard surface to bond the cf to. atleast thats what i think u would have to do

right, you're gonna end up making it heavier with the filler to get it just right to layup against.

it's purely a cosmetic use.
