this is prolly a stupid question but is the first half of the tank larger than the last half? i get 200miles on the first half on the highway. but 400miles on a tank is tough to swallow

It's a tool, use it the way it's supposed to be used =)
This is by far the best quote I have read on this forum yet!

i've noticed this too. my guage red just barely above a half tank left, but it only took about 5 and 1/2 gallons to fill up. if our tank is 14.4 (i think) then it should have took something more like 7. i think you've got at least a gallon left when the light comes on, maybe 2.

24mpg calculated after filling up again last week. Had to stay under 4K rpms when shifting and kept the boost under 0 whenever possible, except when passing slow idiots on the freeway, I'd hit 1.5bar. This is driving on stop-n-go and freeway. And my car might still be a bit rich since I don't have my lower IC pipe yet which it was tuned for.

It's kinda hard to not boost, but this car is still pretty fun driving "normally". But now that gas went down under $3/gallon here for 93... "air-drying" the car is fun again!

btw... I think the gas warning comes on at about 2 gallons left in the tank. I've done/noticed that a few times.

it has to do with the gauging system. for the first couple of gallons or so, the float inside the tank is submerged because it cannot float any higher and is pushed against the top of the tank so you get a full reading for a long time. then the reading suddenly falls as the float actually floats in the tank. Gas gauges are inherently inaccurate because of this and the fact they use a electronic multi tap system. Simply put its not accurate.
